Same. Started early on a crate of Stella and couldn't remember much after 60 mins...
Missed Smicer's goal as I went for a piss when Stevie scored... just heard the missus shout 'we've scored!!' and me thinking at the time I'd somehow managed to get to the bathroom before Stevie scored...
Beating my chest like an ape all the way through the pens.
Confused as **** why that famous 3-3 scoreboard shot didn’t have (pen) after Xabi’s name. Was pretty much delirious for 2 days afterwards, laughing and cry randomly.
Shame one if them oil cunts gonna sully the trophy this year. Double for us next season tho

Xabi reacted brilliantly to his missed peno........missed it with his right peg, scored with his left!!!!
I had my final ever uni exam the next day - which also happened to be my birthday - so watched it at home...... couldn't sleep that night at all!!! Crammed about 4 hrs study in from 3am onwards, had 2 or 3 cans of red bull to keep my going the next morning. I had my exam between 9am and 12......was in the pub for 1pm - sat at the bar watching the celebrations on Sky Sports News all day.... was ******ed by 5pm but somehow managed to keep going until 2 or 3 that night!!!
This was my favourite Rafa. Pre-goatee and pre-weight gain. He was just cool as ****. Love him.
Yeah, he looked like a proper manager. Mentally hard as nails great times. Zero flab. 100% intensity.
I'll never forget that night. As an adult that, and the Barca comeback stand out as the two moments of sporting magic. There were things when I was a kid, but prior to Istanbul we'd not had a lot to shout about for about 15 years.

Totally agree with you about this and Barca. Both amazing.
The other moments have been few that didn't really result in much afterwards. Things like coming from 3 down at home to United (Clough x2 and Ruddock), or the Newcastle games (especially the first one) in the 90's were some of my childhood memories of LFC.....but they were one off games where we won league points......that didn't actually matter in the scheme of things.
Istanbul was ****in epic. You put that in a movie and people wouldn't believe it was actually a true event. Same with Barca. You watch the highlights of either of these games and the hairs on your neck still stand up
What a rollercoaster it was eh? Absolutely annihilated at half time. So inferior in pretty much every way. I went for a pre match piss and pretty much sat down as Maldini scored.
Half time, and really nothing other than a 'keep the score down, win the second half' to look forward to. I can remember getting loads of texts taking the piss. It was just absolute worse case scenarios, the nightmare unfolding. Not just losing a Champions League final, but possibly losing it in the worst way ever, 5 or 6 nil.
Then from Gerrards header a ridiculous and utterly unlikely spell of football.
For 7 minutes. Then back to defending the Alamo.
If you were to replay that game 1000 times and I think Milan win 999 of them. We were lucky to witness the 1000.
I remember a massive drunken pile up when the final pen was missed. And then walking home later and absolutely everyone out on the streets was talking about the game.

It's also so 'us' to play them again 2 years later in the final, play much better, have a far better team... but to ****ing lose
It's remarkable that that team got to the final never mind won it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It’s like that scene where Dr Strange is looking at all the permutations and there was 1 chance.......bring on Hamman
I was there and my ticket was in the stand with Milan fans - all the goals and pens were down my side though
