As an aside it appears as though the Upamecano move to Bayern hasn't been as successful as Konate's move to us.
At the time it was felt that Konate was the our consolation prize for missing out on Upamecano.
From a purely footballing perspective what young player wouldn't want to play under Klopp? He and his team are absolute magicians when it comes to player integration into the squad and improvement
I really rated Upamecano before his move to Bayern, and thought he was the sort of young player that would flourish under Klopp.
Konate then came to us and pretty much became the one that flourished under Klopp whereas Upamecano is really struggling at Bayern.
Konate was seriously good last night. Hard to believe he is just 22 at times. Was my MOTM and yet again showed that he is a real challenger to Matip for that starting berth beside VVD.
Think he is also showing that should VVD need a break that we now have proper cover for him, and could drop Konate into the LCB slot with Matp playing in the RCB beside him.
Mad to think that we have gone from having the likes of Phillips and Williams as cover to now having Gomez and Konate (for now) as our cover. Such a massive jump in terms of our quality in depth at CB.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness
We have more than enough games, and big games, to be able to rotate Matip and Konate, but Ibou (along with Diaz) definitely represents the start of Klopp's next phase.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
