    Worst Value Signing

    We have made some real gaffs in the transfer market in recent years. Truly embarrsing gaffs one might say.

    Who would you vote as the worst?

    Heskey = 11Mill
    Diouf = 10Mill
    Cisse = 14MIll
    Pennant = 7Mill

    Bear in mind we received half our transfr back for big emily & look like getting back 40% of the fee back for cisse, is pennant the worst value? I doubt we'd get a second hand gola football boot for him if we tried to sell him.

    Where did u get Pennant=14Mill?

    From what I've read it was just under 7M and could rise to 8M.

    Hard to pick, but I'll go for my "favorite" El-Hadji...

        ERm, I'm sure we didn't pay 14 for Pennant. I'll go for Diouf. Truly an unforgivable waste of cash. Emile did perform for us but unfortunately he was a confidence player and was forced out onto the wings. Cisse scored some important goals for us (Fa cup and during the CL run + the peno in the CL final). JP has to have a season to settle in IMO. We payed over the odds for all of them but Diouf has to be the biggest waste of cash ever.

          IMHO 5M for Diao + his wages over the years should be on that list also. Shocking piece of business there

            Diao - no contest.

                it's a tough question. heskey, bellamy or diouf for me. Over £30m pissed away - it hurts to even think about. Can't we just pretend that none of them ever played for us?

                  Diouf tried as well. And scored more goals. It's just he was a bit of a cunty ****. If Diao had been on the list I would've said him.

                    Why would anyone say Heskey? Go and watch a treble DVD ffs

                    He may have been poor after his first season and a half or so but he was ****ing fantastic for us during the treble season and it's not like we didn't get decent money back selling him off.

                        those 3 didnt cost over 30m.

                        its has to be Diao or Diouf.

                          I feel it's unfair to include the likes of Pennant and Bellamy in this list of players as they've only been at the club for just over three months!

                          Yes, they've failed to produce the goods as of yet, and both have been in and out of the side since they've joined, so I think it's early to give a true assessment of them both. I must admit that when Pennant signed I saw him as no more than a squad player, but expected more from Bellamy.

                          Maybe they've taken time to adjust to life at a 'big' club and were used to the tag of 'big fish in small pond' at their previous clubs, but I'm willing to give them time before classing them in the same league as the Dioufs and Diaos of this world!

                          Yes, it is disappointing that they haven't produced the goods so far, especially as they've both played many seasons in the EPL, and I can only think of the fact above as to why they haven't done it as of yet. If their form continues through to the end of the campaign then maybe they can be classed as a major disappointment, but as of yet they don't deserve the same tag as the two Senegalese slappers have inherited!!
