If a person wants to engage in homophobic, racist or any other type behaviour then you will not be missed at the grounds and need to be hit with consequences for your own actions.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I gather it was the “rent boys” chant that Chelsea hear at most games. Not sure I understand it. “Plastic flags” and “small team with money” make sense but why rent boys?Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostIn this day and age with nearly everyone having a smart phone and also the quality of tv cameras etc., there should be footage of the knuckle draggers who did this available so that they can identified by the authorities, be hit with any legal actions their disgusting behaviour warrants, and then be banned by the club from attending LFC games.

I’m not sure but is it not something to do with the history of the Kings Road?Originally posted by Catrin View PostI gather it was the “rent boys” chant that Chelsea hear at most games. Going by comments made by the Liverpool LGBT+ fan group, it seems that a whole range of ignorant homophobic comments were being shouted at Gilmore during the game.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I had heard the 'Chelsea rent boys' chant fairly clearly on TV so had assumed that it was that, I think that is one of those chants that is so ingrained in football (alot of teams fans sing it when they play Chelsea) it will take alot of effort and probably a decent amount of time to work it's way out of the game. I assume the other comments were more isolated not sure if that makes them easier or harder to deal with though.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostGoing by comments made by the Liverpool LGBT+ fan group, it seems that a whole range of ignorant homophobic comments were being shouted at Gilmore during the game. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Been to Anfield a few times when we played Chelsea and most of the songs directed at them, had an unsavoury element to it. Maybe it's as retaliation to their songs, I'm not sure, but always find it weird that adults, lots of them in their 40s would partake into this stuff.Originally posted by Catrin View PostI gather it was the “rent boys” chant that Chelsea hear at most games. I doubt it is that innocent. Sounds like an excuse crowbarred it after the fact to make it less abusive.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostThe Chelsea rent boy one surely infers that they just go to Chelsea for the money??? So a bit stupid to direct it at gilmour considering he came through their youth set upFootball without Origi is nothing

The rent boy chants go back to at least the 80's. The Kings Road. Classic North vs South banter. It's showing its age now but football crowds are full of unsavoury types such is life. If every song or chant is to be vetted first, they'd be little left. I doubt very much any of it was personal towards gilmour but as a Chelsea player he's going to get it by association. It's wrong, but the world we live in isn't a shiny place where no one gets hurt. Nasty things are said sure but I'd rather be abused for 90 minutes than be beaten to a pulp for being different. Every single club have songs that are unsavoury and if we're being honest, also one's that are childish. That's football.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI always preferred the "John Terry's mum" song. Used to put him right off ha ha

I think the chat well pre-dates the Abramovic era and players going to Chelsea for money, I'm sure I've heard it sung going back to the mid 90's and almost certainly before.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostI always preferred the "John Terry's mum" song. Used to put him right off ha ha

An explanation of why people find it offensive:https://tribuna.com/en/news/liverpoo...fans-answered/
It's not just us many teams sing it at Chelsea or Chelsea players, as I say it's probably one of those chants that alot of clubs sing but there isn't a place for anymore. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
