Yep, agreed. Not a lot of competition to be fair though… Ox anonymous and Milner chasing shadows

Decent half but we haven't really looked that threatening, but a goal up is all that matters hopefully we can push on 2md half
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Just about the result. Obviously this is far from out preferred midfield 3. I think Naby has been typical Naby, not sure he has anymore in the locker. It's just tidy if uninspiring.

The more I watch this team develop, with the same formation I feel more than any other team we play for moments. Where the likes of city craft and probe and Chelsea do similar and utd just go for it, we do enough, press and rather than clear created opportunites, our chances come by pressure. A mi**** cross or shot, a chance arises and sometimes we'll score and other weeks we won't. It means it is rarely relaxing to watch us. It's going to be tight in most games.

It worked 2 years ago, so hey ho, hopefully again.

          Opinions huh.

He definitely came into the game but yeah I see a drifter as well. Definitely offered more than Ox though.

Norwich will tire, expect us to step it up 2nd half. Crowd and adrenaline will only get them so far.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It’s one of those games where you notice what prime Bobby does for us. He knits it all together. Jota doesn’t drop deep and we need someone to do that to join it all up.

Still, first game of the season, away in front of fans who’ve not been at a game for 18 months, I think we’ve played pretty well. Need to be wary of Pukki getting in between VVD and Tsmikas.

But 100% predictable when opening this thread.

And I include myself in that.

Think Max is being swayed because twice after Naby won the ball, he was dispossessed in the fumble afterwards. He was still there breaking up play.

Think that is what Chamberlain is in the team today for and why he was being used in a Bobby style role for some of the pre season games.

To be fair to the guys we have on in midfield today though, if we had a fully fit squad with everyone having a full pre season behind them, then chances are all three of today's midfield starters would just be part of the back up brigade and Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago would have started.

So whereas we played chunks of last season without a proper backline, we are getting by today with our second string midfield and it is a trio who do not have a lot of minutes playing together in a competitive setting. Yes they will train together and what not, but that is not the same as having hours and hours of actual match time getting to know where and when the other makes his runs etc.

It has been an underwhelming midfield performance so far, but if we can finsih the game with three points, and we should, then in the grand scheme of things it is not a big issue as we will get better as the season goes on and our usual starters will start coming back into the team.
