I would like to wrap Virg in cotton wool which is why he isn't in my preferred lineup, but equally, Klopp will want him sharp for Chelsea, so if the medics say he's physically fit, I can see why he would pick him.

I would like VVD to make some 30 min cameos as he eases his way back to match fitness, rather than seeing him in the frontline straight away. Same with Henderson.

If VVD is fit enough, I'd expect Klopp to play him.

I think he'd prefer to avoid starting Konate on debut next to Tsimikas who despite being at the club already for a year, hasn't played a lot of first team football.

We've never been one for rushing players back under Klopp, the whole "it's a marathon, not a sprint" thing, so I just feel we will take it carefully with VVD and Gomez, especially as we now have good cover with Konate in the mix.

I don't think we will be as cautious with Matip and Henderson, as their injuries were more routine. And Thiago will probably have to prove himself in a couple of sessions midweek to show Klopp and the team he is ready for action.

I just don't think VVD can be rushed. Matip and Konate have more mins behind them pre season and should compliment each other nicely in the short term until Matip inevitably gets injured.
