It’ll be interesting to see if Klopp plays it safe & goes with the tried & proven line up or if he rewards those who have impressed in preseason!

    Virg or Konate?
    Millie or Tsimikas?
    Hendo or Elliot?
    Fabinho or Millie
    Bobby or Jota ?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

      1. VVD - Needs to be getting competitive minutes in, so we might go with VVD and Matip in game one and then Gomez and Konate in game two.

      2. Tsimikas - No point playing a midfielder at LB when we have an international level LB available. Too early in the season to be putting round pegs in square holes imo.

      3. Don't think either will start, I think Milner and Keita will be two of the three in midfield.

      4. Fabinho - Preseason has shown just how much he is missed in the middle when he does not play and prefer him to be shaking off any extra rust he has against Norwich and Burnley than having to do so against Chelsea's midfield.

      5. Jota - Has looked better than Firmino over the past 12 months so based on recent-ish form, he would get the nod for me.

In terms of Virgil, he still looks quite far off being back to his best, understandably.

I think the question is what's the best way to get him back to his elite level? If that's playing matches then I'd start him. Alternatively he might need more training sessions in his legs still in which case I'd go Matip and Konate for now.

My feel from watching him in pre-season is that he's still playing very cautiously and that a couple more weeks training would do him good before he's ready for first team action, but it's Virgil and it would be very hard not to start him!

Is why I would go with him and Matip in the first game, then Gomez and Konate in the second game. Gives all the guys who were out injured some competitive game time and then come game three against Chelsea we will have had time to assess how all four CBs were, and go with the two that look the sharpest and that seem the fittest.

It would also allow us to not be going into the first away game of a new season with a left side of the back line that has not played together before in a game that meant something.

It's sacrilege! But I agree. It's a strange situation where for one day (hopefully more) we're spoiled at CB.

Elliot wouldn't be a huge gamble considering his preseason form and his experience playing well against them last season.

I'd love to see Elliot start just to see if Fredo loses his **** when he finally calls it right

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are likely to be available to start Liverpool's Premier League opener at Norwich City if called upon.

The centre-backs continued their respective returns from long-term injury during the Reds’ final pre-season friendlies, with Van Dijk playing around 70 minutes against Athletic Club and Gomez completing an hour versus CA Osasuna.

Jürgen Klopp feels both will be in contention to make the XI at Carrow Road, although the boss stressed that no final decisions on their involvement have yet been made.

“I think so, it looks like [they are available to start]. But how it is with these kind of things, we have nothing to rush in this department,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We just have to make then a decision on who will start, who will come on, things like this and if I think they are ready for 90 minutes then they are ready to start.

“If I think we have to take them off earlier then it makes no sense because centre-half is not actually a position where you want to change during a game and so we will see.

“But both look really good. An intense season is coming up. We will see how we decide that.”
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

That clears things up for us then.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Quite excited already for the start of our new season. Feel that we are in for a silverware challenging (and hopefully winning) season with manager, players and backroom teams all determined to show that last season was not an indicator of where Liverpool football club is at.

Good season ahead folks. Ye can take that as being a set in stone Jaco P guarantee*.
