FSG have been OK owners but Klopp has done wonders. Net spend per year from FSG is a disgrace.

Just cos Chelsea were down to 10, doesn't make the job easier. We still had to beat 2 banks of 4, and a well drilled 4 it was. Losing a man stifled their attacking intent, not their defensive abilities.

We had a decent opening 15-20mins of the second half but Chelsea then got their shape and we couldn't break them down. We really seem to lack a cutting edge at times. I was disappointed that Jota didn't start as he gets goals. For me Mane still isn't right, and Firmino for all he brings elsewhere in the team his goal numbers aren't and never have been great (aside from 1 season). If those three start, if Salah doesn't get the goals it's difficult to see where they come from. I think we are going to regret not bringing in another forward in this window. We badly need Mane back to the form of the title winning side.

I know games change on big decisions and if it had stayed 11 vs 11, the game would have been more open, but we would have needed to have improved significantly second half to get something out of the game if it weren't for the pen and red card. The red card should have given us the opportunity to get the win and for that reason it's two points dropped.

It’s hyperbolic to state not beating Chelsea 3 games into a season is a disaster. If you’d said disappointing maybe people would have engaged with you a bit more.

We failed by playing poorly. I'm not miserable and I don't think that's particularly negative either tbh.
You're right that looks like we're falling behind these teams. Time will tell on that.

Wrong that we played poorly and didn't take an opportunity. Chelsea immediately subbed 2 offensive players for an extra CB plus DM, and had not interesti in the ball Game was dead after that. We were also better team in first half albeit without creating.

              Shocker of a red card.

Don’t agree with the red card tbh but as the rules are it was a red, ref made the right call with it

Yes. They've invested nothing. The transfer layouts are what we generate. The money they spent on buying the club they'll get back if/when they sell. The stands are loans that get repaid to the owners.

Meanwhile, we're relying on an 18 year old to play 90 against the Champions of Europe, Mane hasn't been right for a year, Firmino for nearly 2 years and Origi is still on the books while they try and get an extra million or two for him.

The squad is weak and that's on the owners. Klopp is an honorable man so I expect him to leave when his contract is up and the front three are in their 30s. FSG are coasting, they don't have the drive to push the club achieve its full potential.

I suppose for it to be a pen at all he had to think it was deliberate. But I don't think that was conclusive. So chelsea were maybe unlucky there. If not fortunate that the ball didn't go straight in the net anyway...

To be fair, it isn’t really.

                            Ok, just one level below.

But my point still stands as regards to his general tone when we don’t win.

If I couldn’t watch any of our games and relied solely on his posts, I’d be thinking we are in a relegation battle.

Jaco is a terrible tipster but it’s certainly not a disaster

                                Just a couple of observations

I thought Chelsea looked dangerous on the counter 1st half, Lukaku was pretty much shackled the whole game apart from when he spun Matip.

1st half I thought we were the better side, Firmino had a really good game in and out of possession, his pressing was back and he got beyond their midfield line numerous times as did Elliott. We created a couple of good chances and opportunities 1st half but squandered them

2nd half to me was too slow, our passing was slow and it frequently allowed Chelsea to get back in shape (it was Brendanesque for me). Our play then became conjested and I thought Elliott started taking up space that Salah and Trent would normally occupy. When Salah comes inside it's designed to open up channels for Trent to use out wide but Salah was running into areas Elliott was and or Trent was going into areas where Harvey had moved into. Tactically v Burnely Elliott worked, 1st half yesterday it worked, 2nd half he didnt. I was surprised Klopp didnt change that

Everyone in the League has dropped points so far, this is gonna be a competitive season
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
