I would have taken that at the start of the game. The fact we got them to ten men cemented what I originally hoped for. Job done. Now to put away the smaller teams whose defenders are not as good as Chelsea's for the low block tactics.

All of our key players are signed on long term deals except Salah, who will be soon I reckon. This means the bedrock of our team over the next 5 years is in place. We may need to move a few on if they don't perform this season (Ox, Minamino, Keita) and definitely need to have an eye on some upgrades, but 80-90% of the squad is in place.

We can now rotate our CBs and not drop off in quality which will be great when the CL starts and we can rest Joel.

It's all good from my POV.

Yup, a point against a PL league rival in the early days of the season isn't a bad thing, we just need to keep on getting 3 points against the fodder and we should be challenging for the league.

Our current squad is stronger than our squads that won the Champions League and Premier League in the last 3 years.

Kept all our best players. Jota our best signing since Virgil or certainly since Alisson. Thiago still settling in but once he does will be quality. Harvey Elliot looks like something special. Tsmikas finally given a chance and looks good.

But the best is Van Dijk is back.
