    Brentford away PL thread

So away to Brentford in the PL is our next test. They’ve been doing well since coming up & scored 7 in the cup against Oldham but they e not faced a test like us so far.

Naby might get the night off after being replaced & Thiago is supposed to be missing too so could we see Hendo Fabinho & Jones in midfield or does Millie replace Jones? If Bobby isn’t right dose play the usual 3 up front.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I can se Milner starting one, these are very physical. I was surprised watching them against Wolves the time wasting and cunty tactics they were using. Jannsen for them in particular is a wind up merchant. They've looked very well organised to be fair and Toney has been impressive for them. An early goal from us would be nice.

      Alisson
      Trent - Matip - VVD - Robbo
      Henderson - Fabinho - Keita
      Salah - Jota - Mane

Not so sure if Keita will be fit or not, imagine Milner will still be a bit cough/coldy so we might see Jones/Ox instead.

Don't mean to be harsh on Ox but I'm going to be disappointed if he starts any league games in the foreseeable. He's absolutely miles and miles off the pace.

No qualms at all should Jones start, the boy is class and still only 20.

I kind of hope Jones gets the nod in midfield, he was playing better than Keita last night, but Keita has been good overall this season though. That aside, think the team picks itself, Tsimi is really giving Robbo a run for that left back spot.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Ox is done at this level. His injuries have sadly ruined him.

Jones worries me too. He's 20 now, and should be kicking on and really demanding a spot in the side, but doesn't quite have "it". There are moments he looks class, but equally moments he looks really raw. Don't know if its that little bit of extra pace (his acceleration is pretty poor) but there's just something not quite there for him IMO.

Kicking on at 20? I think you've been spoiled by TAA's progress. There's no way anyone should be more than pretty good at 20. Anything above that is exceptional and they're not common.

Ronaldo was 24 when he moved to Real for instance.

Yeah...and he was the best player in the world at that age and had been tearing up the Prem for like 4 seasons prior

I think by 20 you have a pretty good idea on most players and if they have "it".

                  Yip agree totally.

I know Ox played as a false #9 in pre-season........but he's gone back to being a false #15 ever since.

I think he is gone to be honest. A 5% drop at this level is huge and the injuries obviously have impacted him. Big pity because he started at LFC in a really good way - that goal v City in the CL was amazing. There was a time in the 2nd half last night where he went on a run and you were thinking "go on.....take them on" but he turned back and passed it back 30 yards.

My expectations for Ox must be a bit lower than others cause I honestly didn’t think he was that bad. Considering how little he’s played & the largely disjointed team we put out I think he got better as the match wore on & id probably score him a 7 .

                        The potential to be, yes.

He looks the same player he did at 18, still makes the same mistakes, runs into trouble, slow off the mark, takes too many touches etc. I'd have expected to see less of that stuff by now, especially as he played quite a lot last season.

He's good, don't get me wrong. But ive been expecting him to kick on and develop more, which i don't think he has since he came into the side. He has an opportunity now with Elliott and Thiago out

I think you have unrealistic expectations of a 20 year old. Especially as TAA still exhibits issues with his play despite being lauded as world class.

I thought Ox was terrible last night - his passing was crap - he lost the ball in dangerous positions - and his pace is now average. He can still 'do a job' for us - let's face it, we need bodies in midfield, especially to eat up the last 20 mins of games when we're leading - but I cannot seem him bothering the first 11 unless his game improves by a quantum leap. Mind you, Naby was a bit off too...perhaps playing in the Carabao team just doesn't do it for some players...Robbo looks increasingly agitated too, but his form means his place is well and truly threatened by Kostas (and he knows it)...

                              25 Sept: Brentford away
                              28 Sept: Porto away
                              3 Oct: City at home

One game at a time, and all that, but will be interesting to see how Klopp manages the squad.
                              Another MASSIVE game
