Realism check. This set of players is never going to get back to playing like 2018/9.

City are only level because the stupid cunts don't have a forward at the club. They would blitz everyone with a striker.

Jota works a tonne off the ball pressing.....that's why Klopp plays him centrally, as does bobby. Firmino drops deeper more often but both work very hard.

We did pretty well second half but got nowhere near their goal apart from from moments of individual genius from Mo (again). We did as well as we could have been expected to in the circumstances imo. Those circumstances include playing with a hopeless Hendo and inexerpeinced Jones in MF. On paper, they had a better side, but we got a result, so hard to be critical of the result.
100% agreed. This was an entertaining game and Man City had better quality overall. Hendo is not at that technical and skill level, Thiago is. Not saying Hendo is not good enough but there are levels.

Still a long way to go and I like our chances.

After a great second half, I still think City are head and shoulders above us. Will be interesting to see where Chelsea are in a few months, but I don't see anyone other than City winning th league.

I was disappointed to se Jota coming off I thought Jones would have been whipped as he struggled so much to get into the game. I thought Jota started to get into the game in the second half, when Bobby came on he was pretty poor. Jota can be wasteful but he always gets chances in games and makes such good runs that go unnoticed.

I don't think they're head and shoulders above us at all, first choice 11's there's very little in it while City do have a deeper squad granted. Perhaps they're slightly superior in the league but you could argue we're better in Europe

            Very little in it

But whether Jones deserves blame or not he'll learn and grow from this especially with our manager, only 21 and still new to the side, he'll improve no doubt
We don’t man mark; this was the moment where the ball broke towards KDB and I don’t think there’s much wrong with Jone’s position tbh. The problem was that our left back was the one challenging for the ball on the right of the penalty area, and Matip is in no man’s land. The pulled us out of shape because they’re very good and a moment of quality/luck with the back heal falling to KDB got them the shooting chance.

This was the start of the attack and Jones did what he could. He’s supposed to be on the left.

That concludes the case for the defence.

Salah was out of this world and we've defended shockingly again.

At 2-1 we should have enough about us to see that out but we looked ragged, both in midfield and defence.

After the 1st half its a good point, after our 2nd goal it feels like 2 dropped.
At half time it just felt a matter of time until City scored, you hoped that we would be better (to be fair we couldn't have been much worse) Second half was much better. Having taken the lead twice you would have hoped that we could have held onto it, so frustrating not to have won that.

In terms of performance I think Milner can do fine at RB against some of the lesser sides but today he was totally out of his depth, was torn apart and was lucky not to see red.

Midfield I was disappointed with something in there just doesn't seem right, not sure exactly what though Jones was quiet, Henderson was very vocal and did well as a leader 2nd half but I didn't think he did that great with his play
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Haha, don't want to get too deeply into this kind of debate because they can drag on forever, waste time and get nowhere but

                    1. At the start of City's attack Curt was nowhere near KDB who had too much space in the middle of the park

                    2. Same thing for the first photo KDB was given so much space in and around our box and Curt was the player closest to him, if it was anyone's job to smother KDB it was Curt

BTW I don't like to single Curt out because he's been one of our best players and for City's 2 goals none of our midfield did their jobs properly but IMO if one player was at fault more than the rest it was Jones

I don’t want to drag it out either, but both photos show Jones challenging in the centre of the pitch when he was playing on the left of midfield. I’m wondering why Fab wasn’t on KDB on the edge of the box, instead Jones had to cover the angles to KDB and Jesus, and faces the criticism.

Neither Curt or Fab covered themselves in glory really for that goal and Henderson was off for the whole match, could do with having Thiago back after the break

Biggest disappointment from today - Salah’s ridiculously good individual goal wasn’t the winner...

City are very good and did well to come back twice. We didn’t help ourselves at times and against City, you simply get punished...

City look excellent again this season. They have so many spread throughout the team. Mo really does get us out of trouble so often. It will be a tough scrap at the top between us, them and Chelsea.

Interesting that Mo took little pleasure in his wonder goal because it didn't win the game. It certainly deserved to win the game.
