    The title challengers

    So looks clear as day that we're properly in a 3 horse race. Interestingly all 3 teams are very different and each has its own weakness.

    Chelsea - weakness is Tuchel's conservative tactics, might see them come unstuck in a few games - drawing a game or two that they should win.

    Citeh - lack of a striker. Unless they bring someone in then at times I can see them not scoring enough to win games.

    Us - injuries/squad. We don't have the depth of squad that can accommodate several big name injuries. We also get hit hardest if the ACN is played.

    ======
    Impossible to predict how it will play out but if the ACN is postponed and we can remain relatively injury free then I think we do it.

    ======

    Oddschecker has City favourite, then Chelsea, then us.

    City's lack of a striker is just a media myth.

    Gabriel is a striker and is Brazil's strarting number 9. Torres is Spain's main striker and has a better than 1 in 2 record for the national team.

    Just because Guardiola does not always play his strikers as strikers does not mean City have none.

    I think we are winning the title this year and have seen nothing to change my mind since I daid that earlier in the season.

    When the season started I though the manager and players all seemed like they had a point to prove after last season and now we are 21 or so games into the season in all comps and it looks more and more like they are all being fuelled by last season's failure to challenge to the end.

    City are City. They have quality in depth all over the pitch and will be a big threat as always.

    Chelsea I think are almost as strong as City but in Tuchel they have a more pragmatic manager than City have. Where Guardioal might be pig headed every now and then and refuse to change a tactic in an attampt to force it to work, Tuchel will correct a mistake and try to come up wth an alternative.

    Tuchel for me is similar to Klopp in how he sets up a team, just that one sets up his pressing in an attacking manner whereas the other sets his up in a more defensive/conservative manner.

    Actually at times Tuchel's Chelsea remind me a little of how another Liverpool manager used to set up some of his teams. Tuchel's Chelsea sometimes has shades of how Rafa used to set us and Valencia up. Making the team solid at the back and defending as a unit but hunting the ball down when the other team has it.
    I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

      I think we're the best team in the league. If we get through AFCON I think we'll win it.

        i think we need to stay injury free too - but I agree. We have played Chelsea and City at home and drew them both. Both of those teams probably thought "draw away at Anfield......we'll take that" - and they would have been right.

        However, I think we can go to both of them and do damage too.

        Jurgen seems to have mastered the art of getting his Liverpool team to peak going into Decembers run of games. When we play chelsea on 2nd of Jan, it will be really ****in interesting to see where we are then.

        At one stage last night, i thought both Watford and Villa might take points off Chelsea and City......pity

          When we have at least the majority of our main core of around 18 available to select and rotate, then we’re the best in the league.

          We wobbled when we had a cluster of injuries in midfield, but for that I honestly believe we’d be top now.

            If we can stay relatively injury free then I agree. It's going to be a close one this year though I think!

            I still think Chelsea will fall away a little bit at some point though. For me their are over achieving and can't sustain that all season.

              If we're in it and no injury issues by end of Jan then we have a chance. But no way at this stage are we favourites with afcon etc.

                Looking at the worst case - it’s Brentford at home and Palace away and that would be if one of our guys gets to the final.

                The other worry is COVID and quarantining.

                  Chelsea are suffering ridiculous amounts of injuries to key players. We're not really noticing due to the money they have. But Chilwell, Silva, Kante, Lukaku, Kovacic, James are massive to Tuchel if and when they all come back. They won't just be falling over the line then, unfortunately. But they haven't hit a proper dip yet since Tuchel came in. Hopefully it's coming soon and it drains them for a succession of games.

                  City are getting some jammy goals, Bernardo finding his purple patch now the ****.

                  Out of the two City are the natural rival but Chelsea under Tuchel is fecking annoying. Can't believe Klopp has only ever had one season unchallenged. This won't be another.
