Manchester City 2 0 Brentford - Switched off after they went 1-0, but needed another pen and a mistake from the keeper to win this and Brentford apparently gave them a decent game.
Southampton 1 1 Manchester City - A well deserved draw for Southampton and again City relying on a set-piece.
Manchester City 1 0 Chelsea - Another tight win for them, decided by a great strike from a world class player.
Arsenal 1 2 Manchester City - Where to start? Another set-piece / penalty to get them going. Two VAR pen decisions going their way leading to a red for Arsenal, then a 94th minute winner.
Brentford 0 1 Manchester City - Didn't see this game, but not much in it stats wise.
On their day, City can wipe the floor with anyone, but Foden, Grealish and Sterling are not reliable goal scorers and arguably City have rode their luck a bit recently. They recorded a few big wins in December but that was as much do with opposing teams being decimated with covid and injuries and they had two fully fit squads to choose from. Those results also came off teh back of a morale boosting 1-0 win against Wolves who were robbed. Again another red card and decisive pen in their favour to secure the points.
If Norwich can keep Mahrez and DeBruyne quiet, they could nick something. Maybe Pep will gamble and rest one of them for CL.
Kind of cements what I'm saying, they're not better than us, just more balanced or a deeper squad for want of a better way of saying it
I think City got lucky in and around Christmas time, with Covid hitting most teams (and us) bar them. They wiped the floor against a few decimated teams to claw back their goal difference then they profited from us slipping up vs Leicester and having had to play games which gives them a good cushion.
On paper, I think we are the better team, so it will be a shame if we can't win the league this year, but if not, we'll run them close.

They do have a better squad, but I think they are massively inferior to us up top, which is why they haven't been able to kill off too many teams recently and why I'm optimistic they'll be caught out again soon.
In terms of spreading goals out, we're not too far off them in that department either with the likes of VVD, Trent, Robbo, Fab, Ox, Elliot, Taki, Mane all scoring recently to supplement the best two forwards in the league.
The big difference between us is the defence, we've thrown away too many points by conceding whereas they have been grinding out results.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
I think they will slip up a few times. They've been on that run since the start of December. It will be an unprecedented achievement if they carry on like that.

Unbeaten? They’ve been on that run since game 10. If they remain unbeaten for the rest of this season, they will match their 28 game run from last season. So not unprecedented.

To be fair we haven't killed many games off recently either, all the PL games we've won in the last couple of months (aside from Brentford) we've only been 1 goal up going into the last 10 mins.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Unbeaten runs mean sod all, it's all about number of wins. I'd be happy for City to go unbeaten for the rest of the season if they are mostly draws
