Anyone see Teddy Sheringham on MNF last night? For the last half hour or so they focused on him and his career. They asked him the best opponent he faced. He said Cannavaro - not big, not especially strong, no real pace, but was always one step ahead of him. Then he said Alan Hansen, who he described as not one but ten steps ahead. Talked about the time Millwall came to Anfield in the first season of the Prem, and he was staggered at how good Hansen was. He said he was "ten steps ahead", that every time the ball went in behind Hansen was first to it by a mile, and every he came short Hansen would just step in ahead of him and pinch it. That 1st goal v Forest you mention is a great example. Lee Glover's waiting to take the ball into feet, and Hansen steals in out of nowhere, nicks it, and glides off into the distance. It's easy to forget how good Jocky was. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Hansen always used to say he wasnt that fast but the first few yards were in your head, anticipating the movement and being there before the ball arrived, so gaining almost magical advantage over the opposition forwards.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostAnyone see Teddy Sheringham on MNF last night? I think you might have jinxed us tonight with this commentOriginally posted by Fredo View PostI’ve got to say that this current side is starting to rival that great Liverpool team of 1987/88.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
