Is the Klopp era our strongest era in terms of player quality and team balance?
For my money, there's absolutely no doubt that this is the best squad of players in our entire history. There are of course individuals from days gone by that get in the team/squad but overall, it's unquestionable
That we've to battle with the most expensive squad ever assembled is a bit of a kick in the balls, as this squad should win the lot
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
From that 1977-84 period (and after it), we were pretty much the big money club of the day and we were the big wage club of the day.
These days we would not crack the top three in the league in terms of being a big spender, let alone taking all of Europe into account.
tbh silverware is all that matters
Looking back on an era where we were FFP Champions isn't really going to fill my heart with joy in the same way that another couple of league titles and champions leagues would.
77 - 84 is the benchmark for the club and i think it'd be neigh on impossible to repeat that level of success

In terms of which era was the most successful yes.
But that is not what I was talking about and is why I called the thread what I called it.
I was comparing eras in terms of player quality and how balanced the teams of each era were.
If league titles and European cups/Champions leagues are the benchmark then best start writing a lot of players off as having been of the right level.
That Rodger's era with guys like Suarez and peak Sturridge, well write them off as no leagues won and no CL won.
Ged's era is a bust also.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Great work that, although I think the Kenny Era is weight slightly wrong IMO. Van Dijk is up there with Hansen but it's a bit early to put him above. I'd say equals until Virgil wins a few more trophies. I'd also have McMahon over both Fabinho and Hendo, he made us tick in the late 80s, he had more personality on the pitch than Fabinho, he was a real leader who matched Hendersons physicality whilst also having a decent eye for goal. He scored 14 goals in 50 games in his second season and 50 goals in total over 6 years, probably better than Richarlison that!

Same for me.
I’ve never seen a team so relentless deliver so many wins. Everything about this team is a step up on anything I’ve ever witnessed.
It bugs me that this team gets measured short for lack of silverware.
2018/19 is one of the all time great seasons by any team. To achieve 97 points AND win the Champions League is an incredible feat.
But it gets overlooked because circumstance means it didn’t come with a league title, when 99 times out of hundred (more, even) that would have won the league and European Cup double.
