Call up accommodation and let them know you'll pay 100% up front. Get them to contact the person that's holding the booking and ask them to pay up front.

That should weed out some of the chunt City supporters depriving real fans from accommodation.

What a bunch of cunts. Surely with all the tech available now this could be easily avoided.

My brother works for a company that arranged concierge style access to sporting events. He was telling me that touts have software to have literally 1000s of sessions opened to buy tickets. They have ZERO problems selling at that price - I’ve got a few freebies off him from time to time. Classico a few years ago and Sevilla vs Liverpool for the 3 all a few years back

Second anecdote - a friend of friend (Scottish as it happens with a very senior role in a large well known clothing company) was at the euros in France with us. We wanted to go to the Ire vs Bel game - 4 of us in the group. I got two tickets via the brother and himself and the other lad had none. When nothing turned up for them he got two tickets on stub hub for a serious wad the morning of the game. To him it was pocket change - all relative I guess

Yep, thats the bottom line. As long as there is a market and a means to sell it will always happen.

In some ways, you cant begrudge someone the deposit for a house that they are probably achieving in selling. But the means to transfer tickets for mass profit needs to be looked at.

Absolutely - it prices ‘real’ fans out of the biggest games. I still remember 2005 - flights, tickets, a night in Istanbul, transfer from airport and to the game etc - all for 700 at the time.

I was broke and it seemed a fortune but even allowing for inflation it’s nothing close to those prices just for a ticket

Right now the plan is to go stay with a friend of mine as she has an apartment on the Albert Dock, then depending on me either go to one of two bars in town to watch it as they are walking distance of her place, or watch it at her place and do a drive around hanging out the car window after we win it.

Maybe see if I can find Bob and have a scrap with him somewhere in the Ropewalks just to see him posting here a few days later about some asshole that punched him outside a pub
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Official travel advice is to not go without a ticket and Klopps just told everyone to head to Paris regardless again.

What's the best route to get to Paris if not via Eurotunnel? Is it easy to fly in to somewhere else and get a train?

I got my Cat 2 ticket via the UEFA ballot.
Only booked the ferry last week, but my cousin booked on the same crossings yesterday for the same price. £200 a ferry, 4 to a car. Then the hotel is near Charles De Gaulle airport - buses run through the night from the Stadium to the airport so we can get back afterwards, and hopefully the bars up there should be 24 hours so we'll get a pint after the game.

Well done on the UEFA ticket - I've entered that ballot every time and never been succesful!

I get that it’s expensive (sort of), but you’re getting no sympathy from me.
                              a) I wasn't after sympathy, so wind your neck in
                              b) I'd give anything for a ticket myself, I'm in the ballot at the moment, and
                              c) If you think that £400+ is a fair face-value price for a football ticket then I'd say you are out of step with the overwhelming majority of our fanbase. UEFA are a shower of money-grabbing cunts and that is an extortionate amount to charge

Drive/Ferry - it's only 3 hours from Calais, ferry crossings cost around £200 for a car and 4 passengers. www.directferries.co.uk

Fly/Train - There are return flights to Lyon from Heathrow for around £200 at the moment and it's just under 2 hours by train to Paris. Stansted to La Rochelle is cheaper at the moment with Ryanair and the train is around 3 hours.
