Liverpool v Chelsea (Wembley) FA Cup Final

Been a while since we have had one of these. Used to be a massive game, and this feels like a worthy opponent for a big final.

Team seems pretty obvs, dependant on Fabinho injury.

    Alisson

    Trent
    Matip
    Virgil
    Robbo

    Fabinho/Hendo
    Thiago
    Hendo/Naby

    Diaz
    Mane
    Salah

This is Chelsea's 3rd FA Cup final in a row and they've lost the previous 2.

Has any team ever lost 3 FA Cup finals in consecutive years?

        So it is!

Also 5th final out of last 6 years and they’ve only won 1.

Henderson, Thiago and Naby seems the most likely right now and I'm ok with that as Naby thrives in space!

Suddenly I'm really worried about this final. About both finals. I think we're, understandably, gassed and on our last legs. There's a reason a quadruple has never been done and trebles are so rare.

Team picks itself as Buzzo says, injuries aside. If Fab and/or Naby are unavailable, it's going to be really hard to find the answer in midfield. I think it's clear that that's the area that needs a bit of surgery in the summer.

Feels like we have 4 proper midfield options and quite a bit of fodder/potential.

              Could easily bring 2 in.

Elliott is a strange one. First choice at the start of the season, and thrown straight back in when fit again in Milan. He had a bad game in Milan, but he's more or less dropped right out of the picture since. Not sure what that's all about.

I think if there are injuries to Fab and/or Keita, then Milner will be his go-to man. He played well in his last start, but it would worry me nonetheless.

Feels like Elliott needs a reset. A pre-season behind him and start a new season fresh.

Yeah, look at City's options in this area we are about 2 proper first XI'ers short in midfield.

Definitely a strange one. He got binned out the first XI almost exactly around the time he posted about Mason Greenwood, and has subsequently gone from being prolific on Social M to non existent.

He is a young fella... needs careful handling.

I know it doesn't work like this but the fact Chelsea have lost their last 2 FA Cup finals makes me feel it's time they won one, it's the same as how some git hasn't scored for 2 years pops up with a worldie against us.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I mean he doesn't even make the bench. Quite peculiar. Perhaps it's just a case of us not having the luxury of giving him a few run outs to find his feet again, with so much on every game. Maybe it's just that, but it feels like something more.

Elliot came back in to the fold at the wrong time for him, when we had a fully fit midfield that functioned well as a unit, at the business end of the season and didn't have room for anyone playing their way back to match fitness. A full pre-season and he will be back in the squad and pushing for a spot in the starting 11, I hope.
