Come on. This is getting stupid now.
Milner and Phillips starting games because we’ve got 10 players out.Are we winning?

The decision to start Philips seems bizarre. Gomez looked fresh as anyhing when he came on. Palace pace on the break was the main concern and Philips lack of pace. That's exactly what happened.
We missed chances but my god cross, cross, cross long ball. The one time one of our players actually takes a player on we score. Diaz was much better when plying higher up. It is plain as day that we are desperately missing a creative threat in the midfield. Teams actively push us to the wide areas and pack the box. Elliot tried his best to be that creative spark and imo was our best player but we need more.
I find it incredible that we are relying on kids, old legs and a player that hasnt played for us in two years when we are 1 game into a season. It is not surprising though as we all who our crocks are and history tells us this was going to happen and will happen throughout the season.
4 points behind City after 2 supposedly easy fixtures is just ridiculous stuff.Last edited by danperkins; 15-08-22, 10:07 PM.

I’d rather see more long range shots than dozens of aimless crossed tbh.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostBollocks. We dominated the game when it was 11 vs 11. We didn't get overrun 10 v 11, but in no way did we have more control than 11 vs 11. Plus in the latter stages Palace were just settling for a point and the only 'chances' we had were long range shots while Palace's breaks were more dangerous.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Phillips should be sold. Very concerned about this season.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThe decision to start Philips seems bizarre. Gomez looked fresh as anthting when he came on. Palace pace on the break was the main concern and Philips lack of pace. That's exactly what happened.

Gomez didn’t start because he had a knock and probably on advice by the medical department.
As for the other stuff I’m not complaining for one that we are giving exciting young players a chance and developing them. Are we winning?

Joe Gomez is carrying a knock. Understandable decision to be cautious with Matip and Konate both already injured.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostWhy did Philips start?
I don't think Gomez would have been rinsed for pace like that. We were massively on top at that point also, Palace had barely had a kick..

Its a **** start, but far too early to be saying more than that.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostCity are a machine Fredo - 4 points behind them already is a challenge. Milner and Phillips starting games in 2022 is a sad state of affairs
Feels like we need reinforcements
Its Thiago cover for me, we are strong in all other positions, but don't have any one else who changes play and passes the ball like him.
We have to acknowledge some of the injury traits, expecting players to handle our schedule who have shown no signs that they can is madness.Modifying post.

We are giving exciting kids a chance which is great and all that but not when you want to challenge one of the best teams ever assembled in the toughest league in the world... that's just not going to work. We are short in our midfield options, it is plain as day and for whatever reason we have not addressed it. We simply cannot rely on several players in our squad to stay fit and we are paying the price for not sorting that.Originally posted by Fredo View PostGomez didn’t start because he had a knock and probably on advice by the medical department.

Nunez ****ed us but we were off again tonight even if we had a few good chances.

it's so true and it's pure bonkers that we have not addressed this. With what is at stake is crazy.
