I'd walk away out of principle but I'd like to think the fanbase will make it known who isn't welcome at the club at every home match.

I’d still support us and suspect the majority of fans would too. I couldn’t support anyone else. The only way to end it for me would be to walk away from football completely and I’m not there yet.

What do we do about the insane levels of entitlement from fans, which has become normalised in the past ten years?

Every year, there can be one winner of each trophy. Last year we won two out of four, and came second in the other two. And people still complained. A lot. That is mental.

Spurs fans booed their team off at half time. They are Spurs and started the day in third place. What exactly are they expecting?

Whilst there is a major issue in the way that football clubs are owned, I don't think there is enough debate on the seriously unhealthy levels of fan entitlement that has become the norm.

No one should expect to win the league year after year. And it should be expected that all teams go through periods of transition. City have distorted not just club finances but fan perception too. To the point where a lot of people regularly do a bunch of mental gymnastics to justify their implicit support for things which they would in no way have considered otherwise.

The reasons to stop following football grow by the day. And I for one, don't intend to watch a minute of the World Cup.

People have lost sight of enjoying the game and become obsessed with winning. And we are in a more privileged position than most in that respect.

Most fans will not see their team win a trophy. Yet they still go to the game and dream. That’s where City coming in has blown it up (and Chelsea before them) it proves that if you throw enough money at a club they will end up winning. If footballs about that, then no wonder people are falling out of love with the game.

From what I know of them, even if they did buy a club like LFC, they would run it in a similar manner to FSG and would see it as an asset whose value they want to increase until it hits whatever magic number that gives them the ROI they want.

I highly doubt it fits their investment profile.

Running it like FSG, but with a bit more cash wouldn’t be a bad thing tho.

That was money largely based on exploiting oil, but they are also one on the greenest and most equitable societies on the planet.

I’d be happier with that than a dodgy state or billionaire’s ego massaging play thing.

We are well run so there is a business case for it & it would give them the opportunity to beat their ME based competition.

Of course if FSG did sell who would people on here wnat to see potentially buy the club? That could make for an interesting poll in itself as the list of people/groups who could realistically buy a 3.5b to 4b club and also afford to invest further in it would not be an overly long list.

You have the Middle Eastern, Russian and Chinese options.

You might have some other Asian based options.

You might have a Jeff Bezos type or a Fruitcake like Musk type.

Maybe further down the foodchain, financially speaking, you would get the likes of some of the UK based consortiums.

FSG are not perfect, and yes they will get an amazing ROI out of LFC, but they have also been good for the club and done their bit in our success on and off of the pitch. I think in 2022 they are as close as one can get to a "good" and responsible owner at the highest level of the game.

It's a difficult one, I feel that some dodgy Human right violating owners running the club would be a red line. But it would be really difficult to walk away from. I am 40 years old and LFC has been a big part of my life as long as I can remember it feels like being a fan is part of who I am so walking away would be like part of me dying.

I would hope that LFC wouldn't attract that type of owner with the general socialist type views of (many of the) supporters and the association of people like Shankly and Klopp who have spoken out about such things, and the fact that LFC have always tried to do things the right way. But ultimately it comes down to business and fans have little say in it. I have no doubt some of the FSG out brigade would be very happy to have those types of owners

Interesting thread, can you imagine if big oil bought us, other fans would have a field day & we would called all hypocrites given how outspoken we've been about the other big spenders.

Tricky situation, personally I wouldn't want it but we do need to spend to compete. Anyone that has accumulated that amount of wealth has stepped on necks to get there, don't think there are many nice guys at that level of wealth.

Modern day football fans have zero to very little loyalty to the club they follow and certainly have no known history or knowledge of their club… football will have been totally revolutionized once the tradition generation of fans has gone.. or until the money goes away from football maybe and hopefully then real football fans can get their sport and past time back…
