Elliott isn't being played in the correct position to be fair, if anything he should be central not out wide. He'd be better in a false 9 position. He's too small and isn't physical enough to be played where he is.

I don't think it's a case of not being ready, to me that implies a lack of ability which I don't think is the case, I think he's not suited to the role he's being asked to play. Which I think is more of a problem.Originally posted by danperkins View PostElliot is not ready to be a starter imo, been saying it for awhile.
When he first came into the side I thought he could have been most suited to playing a deep forward or in the hole type role, but he's not played there. He's being played as a RCM but I just don't think works for him.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Same. I really want him to succeed but I'm having some major doubts. I think he's always been a forward for us but I don't think he'll make it there for us.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't think it's a case of not being ready, to me that implies a lack of ability which I don't think is the case, I think he's not suited to the role he's being asked to play. Imo it's a bit of both, certainly the position doesn't suit but also he just doesn't do enough. Talented kid no doubts but our squad is so thin that he is being used in an area that doesn't suit him and in games that imo he is not ready to start.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't think it's a case of not being ready, to me that implies a lack of ability which I don't think is the case, I think he's not suited to the role he's being asked to play. Also surprised that Ox is out for 2nd half, he's been anonymous, Carvalho isn't ready but I would rather give him the mins and experience than OxThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he is a skillful player and you would see more of that from him if he were playing in a forward role. I feel the role he is being asked to play is more subdued and suppresses much of his natural game in an attempt to make him a more functional or workman like midfielder. (I think the same also applies to Curtis Jones)Originally posted by danperkins View PostImo it's a bit of both, certainly the position doesn't suit but also he just doesn't do enough.
