Just watching the goals again, for their second goal, Henderson is so slow to close down Hwang. He should be sprinting to close out the danger and put a challenge in on the blind side. Think he got substituted not long after. How are the legs on the current midfield going to carry us through the second half of season?
I don’t want us to sign a mid for the sake of it, but get the right man and pay over the odds if necessary.

We were much much better in the counter press when Naby came in. For 15 mins we penned Wolves back, but our final ball wasn’t good enough. Then the game followed the usual pattern. Both Wolves goal were flukes.

We've got some serious problems in this team. None of them look like they give a **** bar Robbo and Nunez.

Hendo is finished. Fab looks cooked. Thiago is a luxury player and when the chips are down like they are, he's a liability at times.

Trent had a decent game for a change. Great ball for Nunez.

Robbo's touch is really poor. There are so many opportunities to move the ball quickly, but he always has to take 3 touches to get the thing under control. Its really killing our left side at times.

Keita immediately showed what a proper midfielder can do. Its a pity he ran out of legs after 20 minutes, and will probably get injured again this week. Theres a good player in there.

Salah - I'd honestly sell him. Said it in the summer. The money we'd get for him would breath new life into the rest of the side. VVD falls into the same category. Sell, buy Gvardiol (whose a massive LFC fan). Put the rest into a new midfield.

Riding these carcasses into the ground is going to get us nowhere. Ive been saying this for a while now but Klopp's loyalty to players is going to be the end of him.

A quality high tempo, dynamic midfielder with an eye for a pass will make a huge difference. They will become the metronome for the team and pick up the pace again.

We’re far too ponderous and slow in the middle of the field and have gone back to crab football on the edge of the opposition box.

If it’s our only chance for fourth, we need to pull the trigger and get someone like Caicedo asap. It’ll take him a few weeks to bed in and learn systems but he is essentially exactly the type of midfielder we need at the moment… well, the priority of all midfield berths anyway.

Aimless slow ponderous possession, lethargic and zero intensity out of posession. Same, same. Teams let us have the ball and counter, it's the way to be successful against us as we are so easy to play through. I don't see us addressing the main issue in this window, just as much as I don't see us winning anything this season with that current midfield. I don't even care about the individual errors for the goals, **** happens but we all know what our issue is and unfortunately so do other teams. We were lucky to not be out of the fa cup against a very poor side.

On the plus side Nunez and Trent done well imo. Two lovely goals.

So so. Tidy without being spectacular.

He’s a big lad his size made him stand out. But you could tell he had only trained with the team once or twice.

Threat wise he had one shot where he took the ball and made space for himself really well. Got hooked at about 70mins if memory serves?

From Nunezs goal to us going 2-1 up there were some really encouraging signs. But we obviously need to show that for more than 30mins. As much as people want to ping the finger at x,y,z player there is something wrong with our prep and mentality that we concede first so often, and our defensive set that we concede so many goals.

I agree that we are over working players that should be relied upon a bit less but I think there is a bigger picture issue that needs resolved at the same time.

This season is a free hit now, and Klopp and the team have earned that - but we will need to see marked improvements for next.

We are playing a very weird set up in midfield for some reason. Hendo was alongside Salah and Nunez at times last night, and Thiago too. When we lose the ball with them up the pitch it leaves Fabinho covering the entire midfield and we look wide open. Needs sorting, both with new signings and moving to a more solid setup.

I sort of get what you are saying but we are still in Champ L & FA Cup so not FREE HIT tbh; read something during the week about "it is never as bad as we think, nor was/is it as good as we want to believe"; there is a lot of truth in that comment.

People keep saying Keita was our best midfielder, now I'm not sure how serious a claim this is or just an expression of how poor the others have been. But for some context: yesterday he came on in the 68th min, so coming on with fresh legs against tired legs so personally I will reserve judgement on him until he has started a few games and shown he can do it for 90mins.

Not saying he didn't look better than the others but I feel the context needs to be considered, he still did some of his old frustrating tricks.

That’s a fair point and you may be correct but his mobility, pressing and forward thinking play - at the moment - looks way ahead of anything else we’ve got available. He should be starting until the inevitable injury.

Not wishing to dump on Elliott again too much - but as soon as he came on, same problems arose of him taking up positions other players were in.
