Had we bought him for say 30m on recent performances we’d think we got a good deal

It’s like judging Nunez for not making enough fingertip saves
He’s doing damn well for a kid

Bendy, not sure if you are aware. Stef is actually a CB who has converted to the holding midfielder role. Any assists he makes or goals he scores are a bonus. Cracking player, enormous engine and great tackling ability.Originally posted by Bender View PostSo he's scored goals and laid on a few assists ? Bloody amazing is way ott

They're putting huge pressure on an 18yr old to carry our midfield full of geriatrics. Hope they don't kill his confidence when we carry on leaking goals and fans start slagging him off"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Don't think he is quite ready to be a nailed on starter going forward, assuming we bring in some quality this window or in the summer, however he is making a good case (if his form continues) to be in the running to be the first cover option for the number 6 role for next season.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Keita, Chamberlain and Milner will most likely be gone.
Henderson and Fabinho will not be moving any faster than they are now.
Jones seems to be a bit injury prone so not a banker to be available as cover all the time.
Only guy who is racking up high level stats for us this season and generally passing the visual test as well is Thiago as his game is not based around pace, power and general athleticism but he still needs guys around him that have the sort of athleticism he does not have.
Bellingham plus one other and Bajcetic still would see us start a season with four of our seven midfield options being a tad injury prone and/or slowing down dramatically.
Think we might be reaching a point where we need three midfielders coming in. Two to be starter level guys and one back up level guy who looks good enough to push for a starting berth sooner rather than later.
Think right now I would be happy to see a few good mobile athletic guys come in that are able to motor up and down the pitch, press hard and win balls and not even dream of higher level guys like Bellingham, Barella, Tonali and so on.
Give me say Laimer and Thuram in January for a combined fee of maybe 45m and put them in the middle alongside Thiago and I would wager that the extra aggression, pace, ball winning and pressing would make a huge difference and make us harder to play against. No they would not bring any flair top the middle but that is not what we are crying out for.
Someone like Ugarte in place of either of those two would do me as well, but I reckon he would cost a lot more than either and maybe as much as both combined.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Laimer is agreed to FC Bayern on a Bosman according to numerous German sources.
If the club can get Bellingham, I’d rather they signed two other CMs who are younger, mobile, physically strong with prem experience who can play multiple midfield roles if klopp and co coaches them to.
It’s sometimes hard to know how players from France, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands will handle the pace of the prem, keita being a good example. He looked quite nippy for a Bundesliga CM but he’s slow as **** in the prem.
That’s why I reckon someone like a Jacob Ramsey would be a safer bet, alongside Bellingham.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Oh yeah who could forget Morton! Wouldn't want to block the path into the first team of our talented youth. Thats usually the party line that Klopp mutters when asked why we don't sign midfielders

Bajcetic has been impressive but like Elliott and Jones before him, we need to manage his minutes in the first team for his breakthrough season. He could easily get burn out.
Shame that neither Hendo nor Fab seem to be anywhere near their usual high levels and it's really only Thiago who is hitting some kind of form. Keita will be off sick again before we know it, so history tells me I'm not counting him.
A few loanees are coming back on a daily basis - what is that being triggered by? Are we looking to just get more cover into the squad while we have so many injuries... or are we potentially looking to offload people like Phillips in the Jan window to fund a midfielder, so we need cover for cover... All very weird recalling so many youngsters at the same time??

That's the thing, we seem to get a bit carried away with certain young players when they put in one or two good performances. I've said it before Jones won't make it at LFC & I don't see it with Morton either. Elliot and Carvalho it is early days, both are talented and will get time but where do they fit in? Also, we shouldn't not have to be relying on either to be starters in the first place and that is the situation we are in. Most of us said start Baj as we were just so sick and tired of watching Fab lumber around doing **** all. Baj came in and was a bit of a relief to see some an actual positive, motivated performance & something different from the **** we've been served up in the midfield this season. Is he ready to be a regular starter vs the best prem & European sides? Probably not, but it was nice to send a message to the some of the under performers to buck the **** up or you will be dropped.Last edited by danperkins; 25-01-23, 11:34 PM.
