    Chelsea (A) 13/08/23 - 16:30 BST

    5 days to go

On paper it should be a high scoring game, but we do love a good 0-0 with Chelsea.

Defensive issues still a concern for us, but Chelsea plenty of issues themselves. James was injured again during preseason, although has played last 3 friendlies. They are likely to play Silva and Colwill CB, which surely we can exploit. Silva is 100 FFS and Colwill for all his talent, is still largely untested and hasn't had enough time to develop a partnership with Silva. Chilwell is the biggest concern as he's had an excellent preseason, playing as a very attacking FB, so could have a lot of joy down our right flank.

Midfield they are quite light in numbers, with Gallagher (who apparently wants out) their most experienced midfielder. Fernandez might kick on for them this season, but from what we've seen so far, not that big a concern. It's likely they might have to play another youngster Chukwuemeka in AM, as Nkunku is unlikely to be fit.

Nkunku is another blow for them, as he too also looked sharp in preseason, but Jackson with his pace will likely also cause us problems. Injuries might force them to play Mudryk, which could be a blessing in disguise for them. He looked dirt last year, bar his first game against us, of course. He as been decent in preseason too and is lightening quick, so will be licking his lips at the prospect of attacking our right flank with Chilwell. Have to hope that Sterling also gets picked and stinks the pace out. Behind Gallagher, he's played most preseason minutes for Chelsea, but has largely been criticised by their fans.

Good time to play Chelsea away and 4-2 win my prediction.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Surely Chelsea will go for the sit deep, flood the midfield and hit it long tactics? It's largely successful against us. Nunez will have no space to operate so Diaz, Gakpo and Salah to start.
    One tit for another.

I think our biggest problem is our own defensive inadequacies, the players don't really seem used to the system with no real DM we will struggle whether we play with a back 4 or TAA in the double pivot. I really hope I am wrong but really not looking forward to this.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

No idea what to expect from this. It’s probably better that we’ve got them early before Poch has got them fine tuned to how he wants to play.

Proper bad feeling about this. A bad result here and we start the season under huge pressure. A few more dodgy results and things could appear very gloomy indeed by October.

On the other hand we might just smash these cunts and wonder what all the fuss was about. ****ed if I know but I can’t deny feeling very nervous about this game.

It's the opposite with me. This game is a free hit. Too early in the season to be peaking (look at City) but a win would be welcomed

Think that whilst we have one glaring weakness to our set, Chelsea appear to have more than a few and also look far more disjointed than us.

Be surprised if they do not score a few times against us, but would be equally suroprised if we doi not score more than they do. Think something wild like a 4-3, 5-3 or 5-4 to us is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Now watch it be a dour 0-0 after typing that
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Aren’t we on 5 back to back 0-0’s with them or something ridiculous. 2 of them were 120 min 0-0’s

Yep it feels like a nailed on draw. It always feels like it will be a draw against them.

0-0 does seem unlikely this time though, I'm going for an edge of the seat goal fest, 1-1 .

That’s a blow for them - is Todd prepared to wait for him to come back or maybe they’ll buy Haaland

Wow, that's huge. It's like us losing Jota AND Diaz last season. The rest of the Chelsea forwards are substandard. Jackson has pace but so does Doak. Nkunku is a good finisher.

Mbappe will be in for them by Friday.
