Think the closest to VVD out there in terms of positioning, passing range, utter calmness in game, style of play etc would be Bastoni. Then drop down another tier in terms of quality and there might be Schlotterbeck.

I think Arne probably just doesn't fancy him as long term Virgil heir. If Hughes does manage to include a sell on clause, or a buy back clause, then happy ****in days.

Could go either way for the guy. He could be a worldie or he might go the way of other promising players who never lived up to it.

But we must surely have a replacement lined up. I know Guehi has been mentioned but not sure he is as good as ibou. And nobody we could sign will be as good as Virgil. I wonder will we get him as 3rd choice and also sell Gomez and go for another young player that we think can be a worldie. Maybe Brantwaithe from Everton (not sure he is all that though) or Hato
