True, but Matip has an old body now. I'm not surprised he's making tired swings in the final minutes. I love Matip but his time went at the start of last year.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostI has to get up and leave the room to stew alone - gutting, feel so sorry for Matip who defending brilliantly. I take a lot of heart from that tbh, the fight and effort to a man was really positive for me
We are going to have a good seasonExperimental music, Metropolitan foodstuffs, Mexican wrestler art, London suburbia, wry whimsy, fansy pants flim flam lad

Don’t take it out on me. He’s our fastest player and in form, he’s not my darling, he’s the obvious tactical choice to maintain some semblance of a threat in the circumstances.

Jota was really stupid doing that having just been booked and us already being down to 10, that's all I can be angry with from our point of view. Gutted for Matip, a point away at Spurs in those circumstances would have been fantastic.
The officiating was ****, I don't think Jones' was a red, it also looked like the VAR only showed the ref a still and the late part of the challenge in slow mo which is dodgy IMO. Not seen the offside lines but the fact they weren't shown, and by eye it looked on makes me suspicious, there were a lot of decisions that went against is that didn't go against spurs. That to me was some of the worst officiating I have seen in a while.
16 PL red cards so far this season, 4 given against us, (one later overturned but still...) we had none in the whole of last seasonThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Did anyone else notice when the ref went to the screen for the red the first thing he saw was a freeze frame of Jones making contact rather than the footage from the start. Surely you don’t show that and you show the full tackle in proper speed to start. If the first thing you see is the final part that’s going to influence your decision.
