Ok....much as I think Alonso has the makings of a great manager, I would not like to be the man who has to follow in Klopp's shoes, you are almost on a hiding to nothing there...part of me thinks that Ljinders might have been a safer choice, a continuation of the Klopp era and if it doesn't go well, then another person (Alonso?) can step in to steady the ship.
But with the backroom staff all going too, that looks unlikely.

If it was my choice to make, I’d certainly have gone with a promotion from within as the first step, with Pep being the obvious choice.Originally posted by Scratch View PostOk....much as I think Alonso has the makings of a great manager, I would not like to be the man who has to follow in Klopp's shoes, you are almost on a hiding to nothing there...part of me thinks that Ljinders might have been a safer choice, a continuation of the Klopp era and if it doesn't go well, then another person (Alonso?) can step in to steady the ship.

Its been mentioned elsewhere that if we have had a DOF in place, I'd be happier, Obv not aware of the day to day stuff, but Jorg coming in, then extending to summer 2025 and then be ****ed off doesn't bode well - However if they have been waiting for the right DOF all good but they should have accelerated the process in NovemberI make no apologies, this is me

When did Schmadtke extend to 2025?Originally posted by Deano View PostIts been mentioned elsewhere that if we have had a DOF in place, I'd be happier, Obv not aware of the day to day stuff, but Jorg coming in, then extending to summer 2025 and then be ****ed off doesn't bode well - However if they have been waiting for the right DOF all good but they should have accelerated the process in November
He’s leaving early, but this was his last window covered by his contract anyway..

It's easier to keep good news under wraps than bad news. Someone would've had their nose put put of joint and would've been itching to spill the beansOriginally posted by danperkins View Post
it certainly seemed that way, which is a worry. They couldn't even keep it under wraps for another few months either.

Once the club start actively looking for a new manager, it would have been impossible to keep the Klopp news under wraps. The club rightly doesn't want to have to wait until summer before beginning the process.Originally posted by danperkins View Post
