Got a feeling he's going to be total gash. But he's almost a safricial lamb anyway following klopp. He looks like a bull****ter, some people have the look. Hope I'm wrong. Let's get rid of some players before he starts so he gets a clean start.

I have no doubt that Edward’s etc have done the homework properly and that it isn’t a punt. Whether or not it does work out is obviously unknown, but replacing Klopp is a huge task for literally anyone. Realistically, the best we can reasonably hope for is that we continue at this level without too much of a dip, anything else that may come is a bonus. A good tactician with a reputation for good man management is probably a good mix of attributes, especially as we’re moving more back to the sporting director model, but the consistency with the squad and tactics etc make it a lower risk of going majorly tits up. Certainly compared to some Jonny big bollocks who thinks he’s Klopp 2.0 and wants to rip everything up in his image. It’s quite a conservative appointment I think, and that’s probably the right idea.

It won’t just be Klopp’s analysis he considers, there will be all the back office data Edwards & his team have pulled together too.

I get that some are underwhelmed, but we are replacing Klopp with at least 4 people, so the role is smaller and the club will be more resilient to personnel changes going forward.

I can see loyalty to underperforming players becoming a thing of the past, but that might mean losing a few of the senior members of the squad in the next year or two.

The change presents an opportunity and I hope we can modify our style of play and training to reduce injuries and have something left in the tank for the run in.
We are here for a good time not a long time....

100% this. We’ve had a terrible run with injuries throughout Klopp’s reign for whatever reason & it’d be nice to rectify this.

Interestingly, Ornstein said that Pep Lijnders knows Slot well, so I wonder if a) there’s a chance that pep stays, or b) Slot uses Lijnders are a consultant in the background.

I'll take qualifying for the CL and a cup or two for the next 2-3 years as success foe whoever comes in.

Mind you, I heard a story (on Second Captains podcast) about Slot prior to a EL game against Roma - asked whether he'd watched Roma to learn about how Mourinho sets up his teams, he said he'd never look at Mourinho's football and Guardiola os the only one he watches to learn from. Match result 4-1 to Roma. I'm not a fan of over-confidence and Dutch people are naturally/culturally confident so an over-confident one makes me suspicious. Will be delighted to be proven wrong hopefully.

That’d be a great transition if he did stay for a minimum of 12 months.

He was asked if he watched Mourinho's team to figure out how he would set up his own Feyenoord team. He said back he did not and that he would never watch a Mourinho team to figure out things to add to his own team as he does not like how Mourinho teams play and that he would only watch a Guardiola type team when it comes to looking for ideas for his own team.

Mourinho then went off on one in the tunnel on match day as followed Slot through the tunnel shouting at him and then went off in the press conferences about Slot too.

Not sure if it was arrogance from Slot though or just trying to get under the skin of Mourinho (which it defo did) or a bit of both.

That would be a good starting base for him. And if successful he should move asap to Germany or Spain to continue his growth. Obviously I say all this selfishly if he does turn out to be a Klopp clone and still feels like he loves LFC.

I feel about the same as I did when we got Brendan totally maxing out my meh. Roy was going to be an unmitigated disaster and Klopp was really exciting. Broadly speaking that’s exactly how their careers played out with us.

When has a club ever brought in a meh manager and they’ve delivered something within say 3 or 4 years.

I feel like pedigree and track record and having delivered something tangible at elite level (Europe or top tier European League) is a must.

Would Slot be open to listening? Who knows.
