A fit Thiago still fits in midfield ahead of at least 5 of those names.

Five years ago? Thiago was a key player as recently as 10 months ago.

I think we lost control of midfield when he played, we always needed a proper holder with him. When he got injured and Klopp rejigged the midfield I thought we were a lot better. He can't really tackle or press at the top level. Amazing when you fully control a game but that's tough to do these days.

Looking at our team right now, who would you take out to put Thiago in?

He’d be ideal to rotate with Jones in that LCM spot. There’s certain games he could be the RCM too. He can certainly tackle and press but you don’t want him to your DM, it reduces the best parts of his game as much as anything else.

Don’t need to look at it as rigidly as who comes out. There’s a **** load of games. It’s about be being able to rotate without compromising levels and protecting players from fatigue or injury through starting every game.

          What's with Szoboszlai, something serious?

Happy for him to come back as if he was in his pomp and assist but something I really like about Jones is that he doesn't lose the ball easily and I thought that's something Thiago did. I think he's a great orchestrator but I definitely don't think his skill set lies in tackling and pressing, and that's pretty much a prerequisite for our current set up. I'd be amazed if he was brought back for any of our key games.

Hard to comment on whether he’d be in key games or not at this stage. Pre this injury he certainly would. Not right way maybe, allowing for rustiness or if he’s now just a shadow of his former self.

But if he’s able to get back to something like former levels fairly quickly, then yes. Can he really be a worse option in midfield than Gakpo, Elliot or Gravenberch have been for the most part in their starts? Forget Bajcetic for this season, I doubt he’ll come into it. And we’re frequently missing at least one of Szoboszlai, Alexis or Jones. There’s plenty of room and games for the Thiago we know.

If Dom is not available, maybe we will see Trent in midfield and Bradley still at RB?

Fair point, although I think our midfield was a bit different just before he arrived. I'd love him to come back to the best he played for us, or even better what he was before that.

And to your point aobut Gakpo, Elliot and Gravenberch, yes you are probably right. Our midfields and forwards seem to be fairly fluid tactically in Klopp's eyes.

I think being able to bring Thiago in as an option in this midfield at this stage is potentially a very big shot in the arm for us.

Pretty sure Bradley won't play after just losing his dad. If Trent goes to midfield we might do Gomez at RB and Robertson back to LB.

I feel loke Robbo really has to up his game, as he has been average at best for a season and a half. Gomez has come in and looked really good. Hopefully with everyone else more settled around him he can recapture his best form.

Be a shame if Bradley has to miss out after the last couple of games, but his mental health must take priority. Trent at right mid would be interrsting to see. Elliott has not stepped up when given the chance , nor has Gravenberch.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Gravenberch will probably start if Szoboszlai is out imo. I like the guy. He has had some good moments in games but he is really going to have to up his game today. Particularly off the ball. He's going to need to show more aggression, intensity and stop pussying out of 50-50 challenges which I've noticed him doing on a number of occasions.

I would have thought that Elliot might start in place of Szoboaslai if required..... Ahead of Gravy
