    Liverpool vs Fulham (a) 21st April 2024

Getting this one up early before SB puts his jinxy little paws on it.

He can do the EL league one for Thursday.

Figure we need to kickstart our league run and I'm too stubborn to be realistic about who is going to win what, so it all begins again here folk. The win against Fulham reignites the title chase for us and will be the first of 6 wins on the spin in the league.

The next six games are our Thermopylae, our Rorke's Drift, our Buliwyf and the lads taking on the hordes of the Wendol.

What happens after the six games are played? Who gives a crap until then, but let's hope that the ride there is glorious.

    Fulham.....you're first to fall.

We still need to finish 2nd in the hope that the second placed team gets the title after the 115 charges comes to its conclusion. Obviously not going to happen with the backhand monies involved, but fail to plan and plan to fail.
        One tit for another.

Depends which Liverpool turns up for Atalanta, I can see us returning to form in attack but its the defence that worries me - Endo has been hooked in his last 3 or 4 games which is a concern
I make no apologies, this is me

I think i would go with a MacAllister Szoboaslai Jones midfield to be honest.

I'd go with a Szoboslai, Clark, Jones midfield. Mac Allister was blowing and clearly needs a rest.

I don't think Szoboszlai has been very good since coming back

Hope they do fancy it and come at us playing a high line.

He has been pretty awful, looks labored running around & terrible on the ball. I'm not quite sure what has happened to a player that looked like a potential worldie when we signed him.

There was something on here at the end of last year about him being knackered basically comparing his workload this season to what he'd done in previous seasons and by Nov/Dec he'd basically put as much effort in as in the whole of last season, so I suspect it is probably that.

I think alot of players can't cope with the demands of 2 games a week at the level of intensity we have been trying to play at, and I think that is where alot of things are falling apart at the moment. It's more and more a squad game now, there are a number of players in our squad who are quality players but we really need to manage their minutes to get them to perform across the season, for me the likes of Konate, Jota, possibly Szoboszlai and a few others aren't capable of playing 2 games a week

In Nov/Dec he had ran as 70% as many KM, done as many sprints etc etc as his best season prior to that.

By February this year he has surpassed his prior most workload heavy season. Think it as simple as his body hitting a wall and will hopefully be next season when his stanima level etc reaches the levels needed.

I say hopefully as this summer is one that will see players not get a full rest and pre season due to all the international tournaments on. Players that go far in tournaments might not finish until sometime in July, then throw in them getting three weeks off and we end up with a lot of players missing a week or more of pre season and that are still regaining fitness when the new season begins.

Also sucks for the new manager as he gets less time with the players during his first summer with the club.

You better reword that so it's easier for @mark79 to search later when checking to see if we thought Szoboszlai could be world class or indeed is world class.
