Yep. A new guy gets some of the **** sticking to him if he comes in now and there is not an immediate bounce.

Join in June, and there is a longer grace period that only starts from gday one. That clean slate you mentioned.

Imo I just don't see Slot coming up with any new strategy to get the team going. At the very least, a new manager bounce is a real thing, gets the players going, gets the fans going, gets some fresh ideas into the side & get some ****ing life back in the club. Under Slot we won't 'capitulate', instead we have that slow drip of win, lose, draw type of thing and I just can't see us making champs league under Slot. He just doesn't seem to have any cards to play. To me, it seems that the higher ups and praying for a miracle champs league run & we just aren't good enough imo. I have no doubts that behind that scenes, there is turmoil about whether to stick or twist.

Tudor and Spurs says otherwise. Think for every bounce type interim manager you get one where the results more or less stay the same, especially at the higher levels.

Really don't think there is anyone of quality, and by that I mean the bare minimum of being good enough to create a run of wins, available for an interim gig.


Also reckon that Alonso is not available, either by choice or by contract, until at least the summer. Real having gardening leave/non compete clauses in their pay offs is common enough. Usually applies to that manager joining teams still in the same competitions that season as them.

Then anyone potentially really good or potentially really good like Enrigue, Hoeness, Inzaghi or whatever name we throw out there is in a job at present and most likely not willing to jump ship until the summer anyway.


Really think it is simply a case of having to suck it up until we get to the summer and hope for the best that we get some luck in one or both cups and that the same applies in the league.

Another factor is that I think some of our players had little interest in upping their own work rates. That is just a gut feeling of course but think more than a few will continue to go through the motions until the summer regardless of who we have as a coach until the end of the season. An interim guy is not going to get players to work harder as they will knlow that guy is gone in the summer anyway.

What I do think needs to change come the summer is the experiment of going back to having a head coach instead of the guy in charge being a football manager.

He gets 8-10 games to see what is working and which squad members need to be replaced for his playing style to succeed before the transfer window opens. It’s a professional rather than personal benefit.

As Doc says, there may be some ‘gardening leave’ contractual restrictions that may prevent it. Can you imagine we get past PSG and he is in charge for a semi final against Real??

Still boils down to whether Alonso would want to come in before the summer or if he has a "gardening leave" clause in place as part of his severance deal with Real.


Same question marks would be over whether he would want to join in the summer too along with questions over if he is the club's main target.

We could just as easily be looking at one from Hoeness, Inzaghi or Enrique. Or could be that we have someone unexpected lined up.

Surely the managment are weighing up their options on Stick or twist right now.

The International break is a perfect moment.

Ge Slot out, Get Xabi and his team in ASAP. If you look at our remaining fixtures they are pretty tough in the league with most of the teams fighting for Champions league

All this says is that he's under the microscope because he's doing a bad job, and lots of people don't like him. I don't dislike the man, don't care about the personal stuff, if we were winning nobody would give a ****. He's a dead man walking any conceivable criticisms are going to come his way until the club wake up to the inevitable.

Making a big deal out of his family being in the Netherlands is bollox. This multi millionaire can afford a private jet to visit the family a hour away whenever he wants, or fly them to see him.

Not having the family there to go home to also affords him extra time to focus on getting the day job right, but he’s been bollox at the too.

The longest I went without seeing the family while working away was 3 months. I was 12 hours travel time away, but managed a night or two home whenever I was in Europe. Not doing my job properly because I chose not to have my family there would have got me fired.

I’ve seen this elsewhere and people were complaining about him going away and even when it was pointed out he was off to see his family and all the players are off for internationals some still said he should be staying back working on tactics or working with the u-21’s. Who’s he working on tactics with if all the players are away. No matter what you think of him that level criticism is ridiculous. Let the guy have a break from the stress and see his family.
