This may sound dumb but I don't think he wants to be here next season, not saying he's trying to get sacked or anything but I could see a mutual agreement on a departure and him going back to the Dutch league.

If the owners want to protect their investment and not go backwards for the next few years they need to get rid now and give somebody else a go. Maybe there's not, or maybe that point is relegation or being in the bottom half of the league? That would be the case for most clubs, but surely as Liverpool, that point has to be a trophy or top 4. So if that is as unlikely as it feels, he has to go?
