With Edward’s back I’m much more comfortable about us not allowing players to leave on a free. I think we will offer contracts and if they are not accepted then the players will be moved on.

Yep totally agree. I think we’ll see at least 1 of the 3 leave ( Mo or TAA most likely or less likely VVD IMO )Originally posted by rudedog View PostWith Edward’s back I’m much more comfortable about us not allowing players to leave on a free. Thinking back to Henderson’s final contract there was a reported difference between Klopp and Edwards. Maybe the stats say it is prime time for Salah and VVD to move on but it is a transition year for the club so a risking them leaving at the end of their contracts is worth it while Slot settles in and can attract the required calibre of player next summer.
Trent is a puzzle but Alison is still good for a few years.
Bob Paisley was never afraid to replace players.

Salah is way past his peak, but statistically VVD is still among the best. Defenders normally play to a later age anyway. I cant think of a player to replace what VVD brings currently, or one that is affordable or who wants to come. I reckon we offer him a new contract, and let Salah go on a free.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I think he will run his own contract down. He seems done as a right back based on the past 2 seasons, and we are overloaded in midfield Not sure if he, uhhh... Slots into slots team, but I feel you could build a team around him. Just dont quite see it while his future looks short. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

That’s what I was thinking.Originally posted by Yerman View PostThinking back to Henderson’s final contract there was a reported difference between Klopp and Edwards. Let VVD and Mo see out their contracts and help Slot get things going is his first season as the two top senior players and then after he’s had a year to build his system up he can bring in players to take over.
Players like Quansah would have had two years as well making the transition easier.
While the club won’t get any money back the money they save on the wages can go to the next group of core players upgrading them, players like Alexis. Gives him time to see who can work in the system and work more long term with the club finding the replacements.
I’ve seen people talk about Kudus at West Ham as a Mo replacement and mentioning he has a release clause that has expired for this season but kicks in again next year.
Hopefully Trent stays though, think he’s got a lot more to give to the club still.

I don't think he's 'way' past his peak generally, just past his peak as an out and out winger. He'll be more potent coming centrally as seen in pre-season games.Originally posted by Charly View PostSalah is way past his peak, but statistically VVD is still among the best. I think these rumours about us trying to buy a keeper are true, and I think that means Ali wants to leave next summer. In the spirit of Bob P, we should be looking to move on from Mo and Virg too.Originally posted by Yerman View PostThinking back to Henderson’s final contract there was a reported difference between Klopp and Edwards. If we are looking to replace VVD and Salah, it's madness not to have brought someone in this summer to give them time to bed in, also everyone will know by January if they haven't signed new contracts so the price for replacements will go up significantly, not a very smart strategy IMO.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
