It’s great to see how genuinely thrilled he is by the move. I love him already!

Style of play and intensity of training etc seem to come into it, but we have had injury issues with a number of managers, I think it probably comes down to the players more than anythingOriginally posted by peterbread View PostI wonder if this will change now with a new team in place. Slot comes with a good reputation for keeping players fit so we might find out if it was the methods previously used or the players.

Obviously he has had a major injury since, which given our record with players is something of a worry, but at the price we have paid it looks a no brainer, what makes me nervous is that Juventus wanted rid and were willing to sell for such a low price, just seems very odd given how high profile he was...
Bottom line is we have got him for the price of young fairly inexperienced players so either it works out and is a bargain, or it doesn't and our loss is largely just his wages. Seems a win win

And his impact won't reflect in his stats (as he will often be successfully dispossessed or tackled) but will still result in goal scoring threat due to the number of midfielders and CBs he will have pulled out of place to deal with him.
Salah used to cause that domino effect but his dribbling is nearly non existent nowadays as he matures into a deadly passer/creator. He is often left with just one FB to deal with him.

Just knocked up some numbers, i think Gakpo is around Mbappe speed but you'd expect the latter (as you would messi) to beat a man for pace all day long as he has Henry level of acceleration. Just a bit of fun but...Originally posted by Corndog View PostHe still looks fast indeed but I’ve read some mixed stuff from juve fans.
Gakpo is fast when he gets going but he’s not explosive off the mark so it’d be nice if chiesa had that acceleration.
If he does, there looks to be a real good mix of wingers and they’re all pretty versatile.
Thierry Henry has a top speed of 39.2 km/h
Dominik Szoboszlai has a top speed of 36.76 km/h
Adama Traore has a top speed of 36.64 Km/h
Luis Diaz has a top speed of 36.42km/h
Erling Haaland has a top speed of 36.22 km/h
Mohamed Salah has a top speed of 36.22 km/h
Kylian Mbappé has a top speed of 35.67 km/h
Cristiano Ronaldo has a top speed of 34.62 km/h
Federico Chiesa has a top speed of 34.4km/h
Lionel Messi has a top speed of 32.50 km/h

This could go in the style of play thread too but has anyone noticed how many balls are deliberately being played into Salah's feet despite his back to goal with the defender being right up his arse? Never saw this under Klopp. It immediately releases any high press pressure. If Salah can turn the defender or lay it off it's an almost direct goal scoring chance with Jota and Szob lurking nearby.
Chiesa fits that tactic perfectly. He loves turning his man, nutmegging him, using his body to shield, running at pace once free, etc. And of course his finishing looks top notch, plus he's a high chance creator for others too.
