The 39 minutes in Fbref is just his Prem minutes and I'd guess that they have largely been played when we have had something to defend - the scenario I suggest he is well suited for. He's played more minutes in the league cup and that's where his limitations with the ball become more evident.

I'll leave the Endo chat here; If and when he gets a starting birth in midfield, we'll see if what I'm referring to is real or not. I can see a number of "FFS Endo" comments in the that match thread.

No argument there. When it's backs against the wall and anywhere will do, Endo is a great option to have.

Just looked on Fbref as I was of a similar opinion as you with regards to his distribution of the ball.

He has played eff all minutes in the league this season. 39 minutes to be exact, but his passing has actually being quite good in those 39 mins.



He attempted 22 passes and completed 19 of them giving him an 86.4% completion rate.

Broken down into short, medium and long passing he is as follows.

Short - 14/16 passes successful or an 87.5% completion rate.

Medium - 3/4 passes were on target. 75% completion rate.

Long - 2/2. 100% completion rate.


All of his passes were in play so no dead balls, free kicks, corners etc to skew his numbers.

In his 39 minutes, he also created two chances that led to shots on goal.



So he has been one of the better players, albeit over a tiny sample of minutes, in terms of him finding a teammate wth a pass.

While Endo is an amazing passer was a typo. It should have been while Endo isn’t an amazing passer. But I stand by the rest. Go back and watch his first season and you’ll see that.

It feels like the basics in the team are dropping this season and they can’t make simple passes either.

Someone to sit who will get stuck in and win the ball and battle and show some aggression and fight. He’s a captain and a leader with bags of experience.

He’s a player who keeps it simple and yes a creative passer from deep would be helpful but what’s needed more is some defensive solidity in the middle of the pitch and discipline. We need better to supplement and compliment Grav. This gap is made all the more glaring by Macca's precipitous drop in form. There is something holding that lad up and I wouldn't be surprised if we find out about some issue he has been dealing with in the fullness of time.

No one said Endo was the lobg term answer. But he isn't being used at all and we lose frequently. There is no justification for Slot to not use him at times. If slot is unable to get anything useful out of the lad then that says more about slot than the player.
