It's a risk in that we are hoping he regains his old form but other than nationality it is far more of a safe bet compared to getting in a waster like Balotelli.


For one thing Chiesa works his arse off in games and tends to give his all in attack and when defending so unlike Balotelli I do not think a lack of effort or poor attitude will be an issue.


The second thing is that Chiesa showed plenty of signs in the season just gone of getting his mojo back, he simply was not in favour with the current manager at Juve.

Reckon if he does flop we would make our money back with maybe a little profit after a year or two, but if he hits the heights he once did then pretty much all our wide players save for probably Salah will have to up their games to not become Chiesa's back up.


Personally I think he is a very low cost (in football terms anyway) punt at getting in Salah's replacement and at the same time a very low cost punt at being "the guy" on the left should Salah stay beyond this season.

It should be noted that Juve did try and keep him before Motta arrived, but they couldn't agree a deal, they want a different structure with more junior players and lower wages to meet FFP.

As it stands Chiesa is being brought in to add depth up front and not be the lead striker on a team who's just sold it's best player.

I’d say it comes down to whether he is pacey enough post ACL.

The prem is definitely the fastest league in the world. If he’s lost explosive acceleration, that’s tough for a winger.

Still worth the risk at that price though.

I don’t expect him to start all the time, think he’ll be a squad player but definitely a good one to come on

He is rapid already. How long it takes to get there I don't know but he's one of the fastest players at top speed.

Only a few years ago this would have been seen as a major coup, even at our height of League and CL glory.
