    CL. Leverkusen home Tuesday 8pm

They aren’t the high flying team of last year so I quite fancy our chances here despite the need to rotate players. Several players looked shagged last night so I’d freshen things up a bit.

    Kelleher

    Bradley Gomez VVD Robbo

    Szobo Endo Jones

    Mo Nunez Diaz
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Bradley's will be eaten alive by Frimpong - no way we don't start TAA.

Same with Endo, I think we need Gravenbergh in there.

I’d prefer a solid defensive minded RB personally & Ryan can’t play every match.

Rest players. League is the most important objective. **** off this charade until the knock out stages start.

Given that Leverkusen will most likely have both Wirtz and Grimaldo coming down their left side/our right side, I would take a hopefully up for it Bradley over the TAA we saw yesterday.

Trent put in a very good defensive performance yesterday, against one of the trickiest wingers in the league.

It was his one the ball that wasn’t up to his usual standards.

I hope he’s rested on Tuesday, but not for performance reasons.

And that giving away of the ball on a regular basis played a big part in us being under pressure in the first half. A lot of what he did well in defensive terms yesterday were a result of him having a bad pass of his come right back in his direction.

In no world was he, imo, good overall yesterday. His first half perfermance in particular was, again imo of course, down there with those of Szobo and MacAllister.

There may have been some instances of that, but it wasn’t on him to that degree imo.

It was an overall bad team performance first half. Much of our problems coming from our midfield just constantly getting run thorough.

If we’re taking about a no frills, solid, win your battles vs their winger type performance, then whoever comes in on Tuesday will do well if they match Trent’s defensive performance yesterday.

I'd argue that it was on the grounds he is meant to be one of our world class players, and being one of those supposedly looking to be made one of the best paid at the club.

He is meant to be one of the players the team is built around and one of those that influences play. So do not think it is too much then to expect him to be, on a regular basis, to be affecting games in the manner that the likes of Alisson, Salah and VVD do.

The bar, based on his ability and supposed wage demands, have to be set higher for him than other players who are just solid in their positions. Again that is an imo .

I mean I don’t think that his defensive actions yesterday were just him correcting his own mistakes.

That’s a whole wider conversation about expectations and performance levels of Trent. The context here was simply about wanting a solid defensive focused performance from our RB on Tuesday.

Will be interesting to see how this goes. Villa on Sat night is a huge game - I suppose they all are in the league now but the chance to kick them in the cock would be good especially after they just lost to Spurs too.

However, the fact that we are at home for both games, the fact that we play Tuesday instead of Wednesday and the fact that the villa game is at 8pm on Saturday, all means I think we will go as strong as possible.

                        Something like

                        kelleher

                        Trent Konate Virgil Robertson

                        Jones Gravenberch MacAllister

                        Salah Nunez Diaz

Rotation will come in the form of substitutions imo

The first half couldn’t have been further from the truth. His 2nd half was much better but he was sloppy in the 1st to put it mildly.

He could be much further from the truth. He still made some important defensive actions in the 1st half.

It was his on ball performance that was particularly off in the 1st half.
