Choose one player from our past for Slot's team

Just a bit bored and wondered "Which one player from our past would you sign to fit into Slot's current team?".

For me it would be Daniel Sturridge (injuries notwithstanding), he was supremely skilled, tactically aware, highly creative, fast as ****, and deadly in front of goal.

Xabi Alonso would be a close 2nd.

          Prime Firmino would be perfect.

But yeah, Dalglish/Barnes/Suarez/Gerrard/Torres/Alonso would do a job.

Reluctant with Suarez as despite being an immense player all the biting etc was sub optimal.
          Modifying post.

I'm liking this love for Sturridge. Can't disagree other than say Suarez is probably the most deadly player we ever had in terms of will and skill.

Souness (our best midfielder ever imo), Alonso or Barnes for me.

I think that the weakest area of the side is probably CF while we have had some great strikers/forwards through our history I think Suarez would be great in this side.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Every time this question comes up, the answer is the same. Steven Gerrard.

a decent poacher, Rush for me (also started a press before anybody know what a press was) or a young Torres

You don't think he'd be too ill disciplined for a Slot team? He's certainly technically gifted and can score for fun but would he 'fit'?

Has to be prime Suarez, we create so much that I can only imagine how many he would score. Also never injured.

Why would you need Sturridge when Chiesa is fulfilling that role in the squad perfectly now?
