I am by no means suggesting the sky is falling in, however you view the game the performance wasn't up to our usual high standards, and we need to look at the reasons for that, and address them in order to get back to previous levels. It's not clear if that was an off day or the first sign of tiredness among some key players, the manager and backroom staff have to figure out which and find a way to mitigate any issues there may be. We are in a very good position but we are now in an intense part of the season and have a few players out and a squad which is becoming a little stretched in places. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Given the scale and intensity of the two games we played in the week leading up to last night, I would have taken a point before kick-off. It's one of the hardest places to get a result at and, as ronanm states, Arsenal lost there (they were completely outplayed actually). Going in to the last few minutes ahead however, it does feel like a missed opportunity. We definitely looked gassed and the recovery team will need to earn their crusts before the derby. I'm not disheartened at all. Lots to be encouraged by including a number of key players coming back. On we go to the next. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

In terms of performance, I think it was a combination of a rejigged backline not being on quite the same wavelength as each other, and Newcastle's first half intensity pegging us back. In the second half, they lost that energy and we managed to exert a little dominance as we had more time on the ball and spaces appeared. But for a blunder from Kelleher, we'd be walking away with 3 points, but after that first half, i'll take a well earned point and move on to the next game.

Newcastle were excellent in terms of intensity - their midfield was the best we have faced this season but neither team ever looked in control. That must be the most open game we've had, felt more like one of Klopps crazy games - we could have easily had another 3 goals and them a couple more too.
Just annoying that we ended up with a draw due to a daft mistake.

Reading all the comments above, in the heat of the moment it can be hard to be pragmatic. If we are honest we probably didn’t deserve to win on the balance of play but having gone ahead with 10 mins to go it was hugely frustrating not to see the game out. It’s not a bad draw with a leggy team away to them in horrible conditions and a baying crowd. Added to that is another mind bogglingly **** performance from the ref - Joelinton must be a protected species or the reincarnation of Fernandinho, he kicked our lads up and down the pitch again with nothing done.
We are bare bones in all lines right now so we need luck with injuries and getting players back. It will be another smelly one this weekend, no Mac as well. The crowd will be baying and I suspect no help will come from our “mates” in PGMOL. A win there would be massive.
However, we are 7 points clear…. we couldn’t have dreamt of such a position when Slot came in. Keep going what we’ve been doing and get help, it’s clear Slot only likes 4 of his midfield. We need one more that he trusts to share the load, there is a league there to be win. Let’s not be “make do” FC, sign someone when the window opens!

He definitely gets a pass as he's been amazing of late, but it was annoying nonetheless.
