I remember the team sheet saying he was RB in the Stoke match but he seemed to be popping up on the left side & very advanced for a fullback.

I feel like Slot is a manager who’s going to experiment a lot during preseason and is always looking to find new ways to innovate. Even though we have two RB’s available he’s used Dom as a RB and has played both Bradley and Frimpong at the same time.

Look at what he did when the team went down to 10 men. Most managers balance the team out whereas he dropped Gravenberch into that CB/DM role and almost had VVD on his own at times. Guehi seems like the top CB option and from his stats he seems to lack certain things your traditional CB has like being aerially dominant but he looks like he’s very good on the ball progressing play and moving things forward and being press resistant. Maybe he has different ideas about what CB’s should be or what he wants them to do.

He definitely likes a versatile player. Look at how Ekitike has been described, able to play 3 positions. Wirtz has been mentioned as being able to play from the left, false 9 and as a 10. I don’t think we’ll necessarily see the same thing all the time. He was great at constantly being able to tweak things in games to get results.

Most managers come across as having their philosophy but make changes depending on the trends. Slot to me is the guy who creates the trends that others follow. I’m excited to see what he does over the years.

He has a philosophy aka playing style but yes he changes up formations sometimes.

He likes to have that 4 man press last year and seems to demand his players to be fluid in their position depending on the in game situation as most great Dutch coaches post Cruyff do

He's a lunatic.

He'll pull off some wonder saves and then he'll make some absolute howlers. Decision making at times leaves a lot to be desired and isn't exactly great with the ball at his feet.

Serious question marks of him. He has a fair bit of maturing to do and is currently miles below the level of Alisson and dare I say even Kweeve

I just watched the full match replay as I’d only seen the extended highlights prior. My thoughts, for what they are worth. I felt sorry for Ben Doak being asked to play as the striker. He got no service & his main attribute is his pace & we were camped in their half which nullified his effectiveness. I really do like Trey Nyoni ( & obviously Rio too ) especially when he gets further forward & hope to see him get minuted this season. Tyler Morton, I’m not sure he’s got a future with us. He can play some great passes from deep like the one he set Gakpo up with but he does look a bit ropey at times. Luca Stephenson I’d like to see out on loan again. He gets better each season with game time & id not write him off yet. We look awfully short at CB & need to get that sorted asap. Elliot is full of huff & puff but nothing got blown down. It’s his first pre season game but I think we’ll definitely be selling him & giving his minutes to Nyoni.
