Wirtz had us, City and Bayern. I’ve not seen anything to say Madrid we’re seriously involved and Barca definitely weren’t and could never have afforded him.

The clubs may not be exactly the same ones, but we beat several of the biggest competitors in Europe either way for each of these signings.

And Torres was no more proven at the highest level than Virgil or Alisson at the time of signing, so doesn’t make sense to apply that caveat to them, but not him.
as I said it’s semantics, I’m sticking with what I think

I’m delighted we’ve got him, he’ll add so much to the team

With wirtz and kerkez likely coming in along with frimpong, not having a single English or even British player will likely become a regular thing with the exception of games jones may start.

I wonder if coming to Anfield and losing 4-0 was a factor. The Leverkusen fans claimed the crowd noise was amplified as it was so loud that night. Florian actually played well, got well beaten then watched Mo standing majestically in front of his adoring public as they tried to deafen him with his song.

Apparently he was due to sign for 3yrs then we tried to switch it to 4yrs at the last minute.

I remember a while back reading something from him (Laudrup) in which he basically said that he chose Juventus because they offered him double the money that we offered. A quick google on your theory came up with this:

"We agreed a three-year contract and went away thinking it was all done," he said. "But two weeks later they came back saying they wanted to offer me the same package, but for four years because I was still young and needed time to develop."

    It's talk****e

Look it’s all semantics anyway but VVD and Ali were amazing and became better. Wirtz is wanted by everyone and we’ve won the race, he’s valued all over Europe and more proven at thd highest level than VVD or Ali was when we signed them

For me, the last time we signed a player of this profile was Fernando Torres

    Virgil rejected City and Chelsea.

Both of them absolute were as much top of the pile signings for record fees and we beat the biggest clubs to get them.

They both felt like seismic, game changing signings at the time and so they proved to be.
