Big lump of a lad. He looked confident with the ball at his feet yesterday .
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I watched the Anfield Wrap earlier and Neil made a comment along the lines of he looks so big in the goal it almost feels as though we are cheating.

Looked composed. We've all seen his shot stopping abilities, but there was a moment a high ball came into the box Sunday league style and he just came out and fisted it clear like it was no bother. Good sign that he can handle some rough stuff from the lower table teams.

Not directly related to Mamardashvili but I do think that lack of height (across the side) in defending set pieces could be a problem for us this season.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yeah, quite prepared to bounce a few off him as well. He's certainly ticks the physical criteria.

We are not really that short a side.

Just looking at guys that regularly made the starting XI last season

                Alisson - 6'4
                Konate - 6'4
                VVVD - 6'5
                Gravenberch - 6'3
                Szobozlai - 6'1
                Gakpo - 6'3

Then we also have a core of guys that are about the six foot mark and/or are decent in the air

                Gomez - 6'2
                Jones - 6'1
                Nunez - 6'2
                Bradley - 5'11
                Endo - 5'10
                Diaz - 5'10

And the guys we brought in this season has three that are between strong and decent in the air

                Mama - 6'6
                Kerkez - 5'10
                Wirtz - 5'10
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

This https://www.givemesport.com/the-aver...-league-squad/ had us as 12th in the PL in terms of average height, Frimpong is shorter than TAA, Wirtz is shorter than Szoboszlai, if we replace Konate with Guehi that's another shorter player. Just something to keep an eye on IMO...

                      The teams that finished 1st , 2nd, 3rd and 4th last season are 12th, 15th, 20th and 3rd on that height table.

Think it is more important to have enough height in key positions than across the board. Plus a lot of players are not very tall yet are either very good in the air or so good positionally that they can make up for it.

It's definitely something to keep an eye on. With Frimpong and Wirtz already on board, my immediate reaction to the Guéhi-for-Konaté chatter was: downsizing.

He's not filled me with confidence yet. Disregarding that we can't keep clean sheets, against United Fernandes's up and under was in the air for a while, and Maguire headed it from roughly the six yard line...should Mama have been claiming that? And in the one and one last night, he didn't do the Ali trick of letting the attacker take one final touch before rushing him, so was quite deep when the shot was taken.

He’s a ****ing giant, he needed to be more forceful yesterday when the ball was being launched into the box. We’ve been so spoilt by having Ali and his freakish ability to save 1 v 1s. I’m sure Ali would’ve saved their second goal - Mama backed off whereas Ali would advance

I've been surprised at how decent he's been kicking. I was led to believe this was his major weak area. He's not always accurate but he hasn't tried to overplay yet. Boots it when required.
