Giorgi Mamardashvili taken to hospital after Evertom match

Early reports suggest it may be a deep cut rather than serious knee damage — fingers crossed
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

      Not much of an update...

Giorgi Mamardashvili shares update after derby injury

Giorgi Mamardashvili has shared a message on social media following his injury in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

The goalkeeper had to be substituted during the second half of Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Due to a collision in the passage of play that saw the Blues equalise, Mamardashvili was taken off and replaced by Freddie Woodman.

Head coach Arne Slot reported post-match that the Georgian had gone to hospital with a ‘big wound’.

Mamardashvili provided an update on Monday morning, saying: “Thank God everything is fine.

“Thank you all so much for your support and for being by my side.

      “I’ll be back soon.

“Big win in the derby and three points.”

Possibly out for a couple of matches I read (makes sense, the wound was around the knee area so will take a lot of impact diving around). Time for Woodman to make himself a hero!

Giorgi Mamardashvili will miss at least a fortnight (could be up to 4 weeks). He's out of hospital & recovering. It means Freddie Woodman is likely to continue against CPFC Alisson hoping to be back for Man Utd away.

I didn't see anything to suggest that Woodman will be another Adrián (fingers crossed!)

I've heard the observation made that Mamardashvili is an unlucky goalkeeper. And if we we're looking to let Allison go, we could do worse than look at that young Irish goalie at Brentford.

How will we possibly fill our bench now with so many keepers injured!

He could have kept playing if they used the magic sponge, but that seems to have been banned or something.

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
