True it’s very easy to get caught up in the home and excitement of young players. I don’t think Gordon is the right example because he never showed much. Maybe Doak is a closer example. He looks a very good young player but doesn’t look like he’s going to make it here. That also might be down to his position as he’s not going to get much game time while Mo is still around and performing like he is.

I think you also have to look at how Slot does things and he’s seems a lot more ruthless and if you’re not top quality he’s not interested. The fact we’ve sold plenty of players that might have been kept under Klopp while Nyoni and Rio are being moved into the first team squad might show they’re both a level up on the others we’ve seen recently.

    Only time will tell.

Doak is a good example and everyone was excited about him two years ago. But there were plenty of caveats, good for his age, needs more end product etc. Rio rammed that down our throats after 1 game. If we signed him at 20 and he performed as he has, everyone would be saying he's a worldie. The only caveats with him are, he's too young, we've been here before which are basically preconceptions and nothing to do with his ability on the pitch.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It looks like both Rio and Nyoni are going to be part of the first team squad this season which I’m excited about. Neither has looked out of place in preseason. Let’s see how they go. Nyoni feels like one that’s going to go a bit under the radar as he does plenty without it being spectacular unlike Rio.

The level of players coming out of the academy has gone up but most are sold for good money as they’re not good enough. Hopefully the next step has started with players like these two and we start to have a few more come through. Doesn’t matter if they were brought in at 16 or have been there from the start.

Seen it referenced in an article earlier, but wasn't sure if the journo was just a Duran Duran fan.

            What's the last line BTW?

This is the most exciting thing I've seen come through attacking wise since Owen.

I can see him being integrated into the squad soon enough. Thankfully we can hold him back to little cameos here and there while he develops.
Fair enough. I think he’s a super exciting talent and hear everyone’s perceptive on the differences to Gordon

Really hope he is different and comes through this season, would be amazing

He is weeks off 17 and a quick google search says Aaron lennon has the most PL games with 14.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him starting a few PL games this season. Way to young to be playing week in, Week out but a couple of injuries and he may well get a run of games.

I don't see him starting many games (other than League Cup and FA Cup) but his pace and directness are an attribute. I can see him coming off the bench late in games against tired defenders, maybe not from the start of the season but at some point

We have a relatively large squad probably 20 senior players who will be expecting to be in the match day squads so that limits the number of places in the squad available for youngsters when everyone is fit, so my feeling is that at the start of the season it will be easier for him not to be involved initially, keep him grounded after a good pre-season etc.

But looking at the squad we currently only have 5 senior forwards (Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike, Chiesa and Nunez) it looks like Nunez will leave and we are hoping to sign Isak., keeping it at 5, Chiesa didn't play much last season and could be on his way so, there is also the fact Salah will be away for a month, add to that the usual injuries/suspensions etc and it feels like there are minutes there for someone. I would expect Danns, Koumas, Gordon to be out on loan. I think Doak will either move on loan or be sold if the right offer comes in, but even if he stays from what we have seen in preseason Rio is ahead of him. Only other young forward likely to be competing for minutes with him would be Will Wright. It feels inevitable that he is going to get an opportunity at some point for whatever reason and if he shows anything like he has shown in preseason at that point it IMO becomes difficult not to keep him involved.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I generally dont get excited too much with young players since they're usually still young and evolving. But I've decided after watching him a few times that I've not been this impressed since I watched Ronaldo as a teenager. Not saying he's the next ronaldo, just that I'm extremely excited to watch him play and expect him to do crazy well.

The improvement I’ve seen already since he joined us is nothing short of incredible. If he continues this same trajectory & can avoid any bad injuries the sky really is the limit.

His name is Rio and he dances down the wing.

He cuts inside and scores and makes the kopites sing.

I’ve noticed his general play looks much better not just looking to take on every player and do it himself.

He’s definitely bulked up a bit as well.

Yeah the change in his physic is really obvious isn’t it. Imagine him at 21, a big strong lad resembling John Barnes

Moving on the floor now, babe
                                You're a bird of paradise
                                Cherry ice cream smile
                                I suppose it's very nice
With a step to your left and a flick to the right
You catch that mirror way out west
                                You know you're something special
And you look like you're the best

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand

And when she shines, she really shows you all she can
Oh, Rio, Rio, dance across the Rio Grande
I've seen you on the beach and I've seen you on TV
Two of a billion stars, it means so much to me
Like a birthday or a pretty view
But then I'm sure that you know it's just for you

Hey now, ooh, look at that, did she nearly run you down?
At the end of the drive, the lawmen arrive
You make me feel alive, alive, alive
I'll take my chance, 'cause luck is on my side or something
                                I know what you're thinking
I'll tell you something, I know what you're thinking

And I might find her if I'm looking like I can
Oh, Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land
From mountains in the north down to the Rio Grande
Those bit could possibly fit his long with a bit of work like “ from Anfield in the north that Rio sure is grand”
