Palace arguably had only two big chances in this game - Jean-Philippe Mateta's 13th-minute penalty and Ismaila Sarr bursting through with 12 to go. They scored both.
As Slot pithily said: "We don't concede chances, but we concede goals."What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

I think Alisson had a couple of one on one saves where he smothered the chance before they could get a shot away.Originally posted by Yozza View PostPalace arguably had only two big chances in this game - Jean-Philippe Mateta's 13th-minute penalty and Ismaila Sarr bursting through with 12 to go. Assuming he would cost about what was mooted when Spurs wanted him (circa £100m), then he would be a starter more often than not.
Who gets dropped to play him iyo? Gravenberch or MacAllister?I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Nobody needs to get ‘dropped’, we would just have great options for proper rotation. Gravenberch played every game last season as we didn’t have backup and started to flag in the last third. By the end of the season he was completely cooked (as was Alexis and Dom). We were also fortunate in that none of that three had any extended time out with injuries, I can’t see that kind of luck going on indefinitely.Originally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostAssuming he would cost about what was mooted when Spurs wanted him (circa £100m), then he would be a starter more often than not.

I think when a striker is struggling for goals taking penalties can go either way but if they miss it makes it worse. I’d have expected Mo to bury that chance late on 9 out of 10 chances. Maybe relieving him of the pressure of penalties might help him. I can’t talk about players that aren’t oursOriginally posted by brightred View PostSo does Isak

I don't agree with Slot here - I think Palace created plenty of chances, even if only a handful were "big"Originally posted by Yozza View PostPalace arguably had only two big chances in this game - Jean-Philippe Mateta's 13th-minute penalty and Ismaila Sarr bursting through with 12 to go. There were some 1-1 saves from Alisson, as someone else mentioned, McAllister's handball should have been a penalty, and overall Palace XG was twice ours (2.12 vs 1.11)
It's just a pre-season game so I'm not that fussed, but Slot and the team needs to take it for the wake up call that it was
Palace cut through our high line almost at will at at times, due to having time & space in midfield to play the passes through or over our last line

Think someone would have to be dropped in that scenario or at the very least get less starts than they might expect.
I totally agree that quality cover in the middle was an issue last season however I do think if we spent 100m (give or take) on a midfielder then it would be fair to say that player would be expected to play more often than not and as such somebody would have to give to give him that playing time.
Course maybe the club's pockets are far deeper than I reckon and a massive money purchase might go into rotation for a season.
Whatever that we may disagree on with regards a transfer like that being a nailed on starter or being part of the roatation with the other guys in similar positions, it would be a very nice headache for Slot to happen were we to bring in a quality CM on top of those we already have.I don't hate people.
