Thought he looked very good today, ignoring that he is still only 18.

Hardly put a foot wrong. I hope he is ok.

Gomez was all over the place at times (although I think he is better as a fullback, he always looks nervous in the middle imho).
Has Gomez ever looked good when he’s not had Virg next to him? But yeah, Leoni looks the real deal - hope it’s not as bad as it seems

Leoni looked very composed has a fair bit of CB aura.

Just have to hope the injury isn’t as bad as feared but he went down hard.

The injury does have all the hallmarks of an ACL. Plenty at the club have had the same injury so its not the disaster it once was. Gomez doesn't look ready to cover the big man or Konate which is a real concern.

“Giovanni Leoni had to come off with a knee injury in the second half of the Liverpool vs. Southampton clash.

Extremely limited video makes this harder to judge, but I'd be worried that his knee falls into a valgus position in this screenshot.

Non-contact nature, knee collapsing in and pivoting nature make me suspicious of an ACL injury. However, this is harder to call due to the live broadcast not showing a clearer replay of it.

              Potential Recovery Time:
              If ACL: 9+ months
              If meniscus: ~3-4 months (varies)
              If bone/bruise: <1 week

Physios seemed to have readied Leoni in a position to do a Lachmann's test - to test for an ACL rupture. Scans will be needed to determine the extent of the injury.”

Arne Slot added: ‘If a player goes off like that, it is normally not a good sign.'

if it was an ACL its slightly odd that they put his leg in a brace and the straps going over the top of the knee. The way his leg has gone underneath him he might have fractured his leg/ankle?

Yeah I didn’t see it as an extension. He looked like he just landed hard, and that bit round the pitch is unforgiving. But they didn’t replay it - which is never a good sign either.

Looks like a ACL, lower leg planted / sudden stop with the thigh and body momentum driven forward. Fingers crossed, but looks like either ACL or PCL.

He’s got someone there in VVD who has been through it himself to help him deal with it.

So, I reckon we will be back in for Guehi in January after all.

Terrible news for Gio tho, after what was a pretty rock solid debut.

Thankfully he’s a defender where it would appear speed is not a vital component to his game.
