People obsessed with resting footballers. Played the strongest team you can. They need to get a result and a cup run. If they can’t manage the workload then there are serious issues. Injuries can happen just as easily in training, so that knocks that argument.

The importance of this game is trivial though. So no point in playing players at the detriment of the next game.

A villa win is 10x more important than this. Hence why VVD and others will be rested.

True but the importance of a win is huge for Slot at the moment. He's between a rock and a hard place in that respect. On one hand the cup is irrelevant and you can rest our 'best' players for the league game which is clearly more important but Slot desperately needs a win . Another loss and 'A cup exit' headline, is terrible for Slot and just heaps more pressure on him and us.

So either go for the win to ease pressure/get the feel good factor back or sacrifice the game and rest players for the league. IMO we can still go strong & try something a bit different tonight, go for width and physicality. Chiesa, Gomez & Endo should start tonight imo. We need to show some fight, solidity and get stuck into these tonight first and foremost, they are a bit of a bogey side for us in recent years. Personally I would like to see Slot try something different tonight in the way of setup.

Get Gomez and Mac Allister out there. I’d start Kerkez but more to save Robertson for Villa. I would say get Chiesa and Endo more minutes but they could star tonight and won’t start against Villa no matter what they do.
