Plenty of good to take from the game and 2 clean sheets in a row but also a bit open at times. But definitely better than we’ve seen this season. They really could have had more than 2.

I think the injuries in the squad and 3 games in a week showed at times. And having to use all the midfielders from the start didn’t help. A good week off now will be helpful and hopefully we get some players back for next weekends game.

Any word on Joes injury & likely timeframe yet?

Probably the usual 2-3 months out.

Would be trying for two CBs tbh. One because we still need one and the second because Konate has not signed a new deal and because Gomez, as good as he can be, is not reliable.

Bring in two, give them the half season to be blooded into the team, then come the summer Konate leaves, Gomez can either leave or stay as a back up and we get Leoni back from injury.

Start next season with the two new guys fully settled in, VVD, Leoni and maybe Gomez (could bring in another multi purpose player if Gomez leaves)

Maybe a CB and the versatile RB/CB now. With Gomez and Bradley we could do with some more cover at RB as well as CB. And if the talk is true about Frimpong getting his chance to play in attack when he’s back and with Salah away we don’t want to waste either Jones or Szoboszlai at RB.

Yeah makes sense, & more sense that targeting Semenyo who I don’t think we need.

I think we need an attacker but I have a lot of doubts about him.

Not only has the only purple patch of his career well and truly ended, his underlying stats ( the ones relating to pressing, progressive carries, chance creation and so on) have dropped off compared to last season.

If we were going to spend 65m to 75m (whatever the rumoured release clause is) on a current PL based wideman/attacker, I think I would prefer to gamble on Minteh at Brighton (maybe testing their resolve with a 55m to 60m bid and seeing where it goes from there).

Not that I think Minteh is the finished article, but he has a few years PL experience, is only 21 or so , looks good right now but also looks like high might have a high ceiling to get even better and has years ahead of him to be potentially getting better and better in. Plus he and Slot worked together before, so Slot will have an idea what his personality etc is like.

Do think there is far better value around the European leagues.

Fresh blood at CB would come first for me though.

Minteh is an interesting shout, but 100% agreed on CB as the priority, ideally 2x.

No idea who that would be, as I think Guehi is unlikely in Jan, both from a Crystal Palace perspective, and from a player's perspective. Maybe if we were right in the middle of a title challenge it would be different.

Schlotterbeck it is then Probably has 4 to 6 years left in him at a high level. Supposedly has a price tag of about £45m put on him by Dortmund.

I know there are a couple of young CBs that we were meant to be linked with last summer that would sort of be in that space between Leoni and full on starter.

That high boot on Wirtz...was it inside the area? Just saw a clip of it for the first time since the match and it looks like it was pretty close?

Edit, clip. I saw was from the Dermot Gallagher ref show on Sky Sports, the first angle they showed looked inside. Given the amount of time they spent analysing where Vvd's foot was for the penalty, surprised this didn't get looked at.

It was in/on the edge of our area (we were defending)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yeah it’s important not to forget about Leoni who the club had huge expectations for. That injury is a massive set back which unfortunately means he may never reach the potential we hoped he would.
