Hmm, tough one - not sure we will see both Virg and Gomez for this one, especially if Gomez needs to cover Bradly at RB now.

I think we might see Wellity Lucky here, not sure who he will partner though

Any word on Danns? There was an update in Dec that he was almost ready for a return to full training and was targeting early Jan for availability.

This is a tough one for Slot I think. In any other season playing a second string team would be completely understandable and we would still expect to win, but this season it is different. Anything other than a win here would be unacceptable, but with the injuries that we have and the fact that it is just the F All cup means playing a significant number of the first team squad would be dumb. Can't lose, but can't play a team strong enough to guarantee victory - I wonder which way he will go. My suspicion is he will play a weak team and it could be his undoing.

Danns isn’t playing yet and Wright has had 2 or 3 games back from a decent lay off. The u-21’s played on Friday so I don’t know how many of them will be available for Monday. This is the team from Friday.

Liverpool: Pecsi, Davidson, Lucky, Nallo, Chambers, Kelly (Trueman, 70), Morrison, Pilling, Laffey, Kone-Doherty, W. Wright (Figueroa, 60).

I think it will be a stronger team than last year and some of the younger players on the bench.

Hugo, that is not 100 per cent sure but we will do everything to have him available on Monday.

On Wataru Endo's fitness...

I think if I am correct he might start to train one of these days, but he has been out for two months now, that's of course different to being out for one week. Alex [Isak] is not going to be back yet and Mo [Salah] played on Saturday.

On if Jayden Danns is available...

No. Not fit enough, no. Not even training, if I'm correct. One of the players that got a stress fracture because he was young and from what we've been told was a bit over-trained. That's why we are so careful with Rio Ngumoha, that he's two days a week off the pitch if that's possible, to not have that same situation with him. But Jayden is definitely not available in the short term.

On whether this game is a chance for Federico Chiesa...

I spoke to him two days ago and he said to me that he played more in the recent weeks than he ever did before under me. But he is one of the players that could feature in that game, definitely. But, like I said, Hugo might be back so let's see how we will start that game. He is one of the options that I have, so let's see.

Would prefer to play Macca though and give Dom a proper rest. Those who need to be wrapped in cotton wool now are Konate, VVD, Hugo, Frimpong, Szoboslai and Wirtz. Might see Robertson at CB and Kerkez at LB.

If we were flying and doing well I would go with a team like what you put up, but as things are and with a few good perfromances from lower league teams already over the weekend, I think we might need at least a half to 60 minutes out of VVD.

Lucky is only 19 and has very little u23/u21 experience let alone senior level experience.


Would keep the bench pretty strong too just in case.
