    James McConnell

Now that he's back from loan, can James McConnell play for LFC this season?
For a team very light on defensive central midfielders (or for that matter right backs) he might be a useful addition.

I thought he went out on loan again
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

His loan ended as he was deemed not good enough by Ajax and since he returned he has had surgery so is not even in full training yet.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

If you can find your boots mate you’ll be ahead of Ramsay. No matter what happens he’ll be off elsewhere in the summer.

McConnell or Ramsay? There was alot of chat in the summer about how highly McConnell was rated.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Ramsay. I believe he’s out of contract soon with zero chance of it being renewed. Yeah McConnell is highly rated but the player I’d be interested in seeing again is Luca Stephenson. He’s playing regularly in Scotland as a CM or RM but can also operate as a RB.

It's a shame so many youngsters have been injured or away this season with such a think squad you would have hoped there could have been opportunities for the likes of Danns, Bajcetic, McConnell or someone like that

                  Some good news

                  James McConnell back at Anfield
But it looks like one 21-year-old midfielder will come into the reckoning as an emergency Endo replacement between now and the end of the season.

James McConnell is back at Anfield following a frustrating loan spell at Ajax in the Eredivisie. He returned to base following an injury which required surgery - and This is Anfield is now reporting that he is back in training action with Rob Page’s under-21 side.

Midfielder McConnell reported for duty on Wednesday - alongside other returnees Jayden Danns, Ben Trueman and new signing Mor Talla Ndiaye.

                  McConnell steps up training
Those four were put through their paces at the club’s academy facilities - including ball work with fitness rehabilitation coach Jordan Hunter.

It means a return to full training now isn’t far off - with the report claiming that Danns and McConnell could soon be integrated with the senior squad for what’s left of the season.

McConnell remains a big favourite of Arne Slot - who liked what he saw from the Englishman in a Champions League game against PSV last season.

The No6 signed a new long-term contract before heading out on loan to Ajax and his injury through January meant no further loan deal materialised.

But he is back fit just when Slot requires additional midfield cover - at a time when he’s been using midfielders like Endo, Jones and Szoboszlai at right-back.

I met 2 Ajax fans on a train last month. They both said that McConnell was garbage and suggested that his signing led to questions about Jonny Heiguita......

They also said that they have some unbelievable young players coming through.....as good as anything in the last 20 years
