Didn't they say that they'd accepted a bid from us, the barcodes and spurs at the time though? From what I remember we were definitely in for him but he chose the geordies.

Perhaps but Duff did say in his Newcastle press conference that he'd turned us down because he wasn't convinced he would play every week, or words to that effect.

The driving factor behind Chelsea signing SWP was because we where sniffing round him. That's what i believe anyway.

Probably a lot of truth in that.

Shouldn't we be making a bid? Personally I think Pennant has been a waste of money and won't ever make the impact we need. SWP on the other hand just needs games. You don't become a **** player overnight and he was a class player at Citeh. I think we ought to be making a bid for him, I'll be really pissed off if we see Duff and SWP being released by Chavski to **** teams for a pittence when we haven't even made an approach.

                Get in there Parry

Anyone else think we should pursue SWP for a January transfer?

We're broke mate! where's the money going to come from?

10 times better informed than any of us here, and that's being conservative.

I thought we bidded more than the offers Chelsea had accepted for other clubs but our offers were still rejected.

I really doubt we were seriously in for Duff, we might have made a cheeky offer but thats about it I think

Well considering he only went for £5m, I wouldn't be surprised if we had offered just over that. He would've been a good addition, no doubt about it, even with the injuries.
